Zendaya Could Not Help But Cry Continuously After Watching a Flop Movie of Her Sister From 'Euphoria'

19-year-old Storm Reid has quickly established herself as one of the most accomplished young actresses in the industry. Despite her relatively short career, she has already taken on significant roles in high-profile projects such as The Suicide Squad, The Invisible Man, and Missing among others. However, it is her portrayal of Gia, the supportive younger sister to Zendaya’s Rue Bennett in HBO’s acclaimed series Euphoria, that stands out as her most heartrending performance to date. Why did Zendaya cry after watching Storm Reid’s A Wrinkle in Time?

Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time generated a buzz with its star-studded cast. However, unfortunately, the movie turned out to be a major box office miss. With a disappointing opening day collection of $33 million, it became one of the many high-profile fantasy films to struggle just like BFG and Miss Peregrine. Trying to send across the message about families, love, and self-acceptance, the movie did touch the hearts of many. Including Reid’s now co-star Zendaya. Sharing how she cried thrice while watching the movie, the Spider-Man: No Way Home actress shared on Twitter,

In Euphoria, Reid’s character Gia serves as a poignant representation of how addiction impacts families and loved ones, offering a compelling portrayal of strength and unwavering support amidst overwhelming trauma. And now, according to Zendaya’s post, the actress is in dire need of that much-needed support from her on-screen sister.

One fateful day, Meg is whisked away by three supernatural beings (Witherspoon, Winfrey, and Kaling), who guide her, along with her adopted brother and a classmate, on a thrilling journey through space and time to locate her father.

While the reasons behind her father’s disappearance and the realm in which he is held captive are fantastical, A Wrinkle in Time remains firmly grounded in themes of pain and loss. With a special shout-out to Reid’s exceptional portrayal, marked by her nuanced and emotionally charged performance.
