Black Panther: Wakanda Forever brought Letitia Wright to the forefront as she took the lead in Chadwick Boseman’s absence. With her stellar performance, she is being backed as a strong candidate for the next Oscars campaign. But her smooth run has been slightly tainted by a recent report from a leading publication. It states how her chances at the Oscars could be impacted by personal controversies and Wright just hasn’t taken it lightly. She snapped back at the journalist over his ‘Disgusting’ report and had some interesting comments to make.
Letitia Wright Fights Back
The likes of Will Smith and Brad Pitt have been under the pump due to the controversies they’ve been involved in. But a recent report also brought up Letitia Wright’s name along with the other two actors. She has been pretty outspoken on the whole vaccine issue as she was involved in an anti-vax controversy before Wakanda Forever finished filming. And when a recent report about ‘Oscar Chances’ mentioned how her opinions in the past could affect her shot at an Academy award, she straight up destroyed the journalist in her Instagram Story.
The 29-year-old actor mentioned that the outlet has “a personal vendetta towards [her],” and what they wrote was “incredibly disrespectful.” She wrote:
“I had to unblock The Hollywood Reporter just to post this. Scott Feinberg and all at this publication. You’re all incredibly disrespectful. How dare you. You mentioned my name alongside men who have been accused of abuse & sexual misconduct. This is vile behavior. At this point a personal vendetta towards me. I’ve done nothing wrong but respectfully refused to do interviews with this publication. Stop your nonsense. I apologised TWO years ago. Remained silent on the topic. You lied and said I continued talking about it with my cast & crew on my set. THIS WAS NOT TRUE. ASK MY PRODUCER AND DIRECTOR. The film was successful. Your agenda towards me is now even more clear. I won’t remain silent. Stop your disgusting behavior.”
And this didn’t end with just one story.
Wright also put out a follow-up story replying to Scott Feinberg, the journalist who mentioned her in his Oscars report. She stated:
“This personal agenda with your friends at The Hollywood Reporter is disgusting I’ve remained silent as the world told me to kill myself two years ago for a video I posted and apologised for.I kept my head down and focused on my craft. And now I’m at the other side of it. Here you are, as a so called journalist we are meant to trust, putting my name into this nasty article for what? You lack substance, you clearly have nothing to report. The movie is beautiful, impactful, and breaking box office. I worked my ass off with my cast and crew to dedicate it to my Brother. How dare you. Did my performance rattle you that much? It was that excellent huh? I’m still here, making an impact, still creating projects that touch peoples hearts and it’s not going to stop. Get a life, like for real.”
What About Her Oscars Campaign?
There was a bit of drama created between Wright and Marvel Studios before Wakanda Forever was back on track, but all that was handled well. The actress even claimed that she has already apologized and remained silent ever since. It has all been water under the bridge and there’s no way that her past sentiments would cause any hindrances to her Awards chances. She has a right to defend herself, and she has done exactly that with latest her Instagram stories too.
