The debate about which franchise is better, Marvel or DC, will never fade away. Fans want to see their beloved actors in famous franchises. But there is one actor on the planet who doesn’t care about being in a franchise as his name is enough.
The actor is none other than Nicolas Cage, who previously headlined for his controversial remark on the Stan Lee-created franchise, Marvel. The Next actor recently has also expressed his wish to feature in Marvel’s rival franchise DC. Cage is known for his amazing performances in action genre films. He also earned an Oscar for best actor in Leaving Las Vegas film in 1996.
Nicholas Cage Wishes To Play DC’s Spectre
Franchises don’t like to stick to just a few characters’ stories because at some point people might get bored watching it. That’s the reason both DC and MCU are bringing in new characters and fresh stories for the audience. Even though MCU has opened its universe a lot more than DCEU, it can be expected that in the future we can see more new DC characters in franchises.
One such potential character would be Spectre. Considered one of the powerful characters in the DC, he possesses capabilities like strength, reality manipulation, and invulnerability. Recently, Cage was promoting his upcoming movie Renfield, when a fan asked him which character he looks forward to playing next.
For those of you who don’t know, Nicolas Cage has played the superhero Ghost Rider in the MCU. Now the actor is more interested in the DC franchise as he thinks it would be fun to play Jim Corrigan.
“Ohh! Yeah! Jim Corrigan, the Spectre (old DC comics character). That would be a fun one. But that’s a hard one to pull off because he’s virtually invincible, he has no weakness. You need characters that have kryptonite, that have a flaw, but he’s kinda unbeatable. But that would be a fun one. — Cage”
Nicolas Cage Throws Shade At Marvel Studios
Nicolas Cage played the titular character of Ghost Rider in the 2007 Mark Steven Johnson-helmed film. The superhero film lasted for only two movies and the third sequel never came out. The reason behind it was that Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance was a complete disappointment and did poorly at the box office. Nic Cage also stepped down from his character because of this. In a past interview with the outlet Variety, The Mom and Dad actor showed disinterest in Marvel Studios and tried to subtly shade them.
“I don’t need to be in the MCU, I’m Nic Cage. I’ve gotta be nice about Marvel movies because I named myself after a Stan Lee character named Luke Cage,” he said in winning Variety’s Legend & Groundbreaker Award. “What am I going to do, put Marvel movies down? Stan Lee is my surrealistic father. He named me.”
Previously, a rumor was making rounds on the internet about Marvel approaching Nicolas Cage to reprise his role as Ghost Rider in his upcoming big film Avengers: Secret Wars.
