“I went for a swim in Hawaii and I’ve been swimming in the ocean my whole life, it’s never been a problem for me. I think maybe I was a little arrogant, I got caught in a rip and I couldn’t get out and I’m a strong swimmer but I was just kinda stuck for about 400-500 yards out.”

She then explained that she tried to tell her husband, Adam Shulman, that she was “sort of not okay” but he thought Hathaway was drowning.

“I told him [Shulman], ‘No don’t run out, there’s photographers, you just made this so much more dramatic.'”
