Theron’s talent and unwavering commitment to her craft continue to enchant audiences globally.
Before her debut as Clea in the end-credits scene of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Charlize Theron openly shared her candid views on Marvel movies. She admitted to previously making fun of people she knew who were fans of the franchise.
Charlize Theron Admits She Was Ignorant Of MCU
Charlize Theron shared her perspective on her cameo as Clea in Doctor Stange 2, expressing that finding an emotional anchor in her roles matters more to her than being perceived as a powerful actor. She emphasized that she wouldn’t become snobbish about the impact of her performances.
“If I can find the anchor, then I’m never going to be a snob about, like, ‘Oh, does this make me less of a powerful actor,’” Theron said when inquired about how she got a cameo as Clea in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
Charlize Theron reflected on her past ignorance towards Marvel movies, admitting that she hadn’t watched them until her adopted family, who are huge Marvel fans, introduced her to the films. She used to mock them, playfully calling them “nerds” for their intense passion for the Marvel universe.
“I was ignorant, I didn’t know those [Marvel] movies well enough until a family who I consider, like, my adopted family had me watch them. They’re crazy Marvel fans, and I always used to make fun of them. Like, ‘Oh my God, you guys are such f*cking nerds.'”
During a spring break, at the insistence of the family’s kids, Theron decided to watch “all the movies,” which completely altered her perspective and led her to appreciate and understand the Marvel films in a new light.
Will Charlize Theron Appear In Future MCU Films
Theron made a surprise appearance as the enigmatic Clea in the initial end-credits scene of Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange sequel, which hit theaters in May and featured Benedict Cumberbatch in the lead role.
During the end-credits scene, Clea, portrayed with striking features including long platinum blonde hair, purple eye makeup, and clad in a purple costume with a dagger, intercepted Strange as he strolled down a street.
“You caused an incursion and we’re going to fix it… unless you’re afraid,” she said.
As the third eye emerged on Strange’s forehead, signifying the repercussions of his use of the Darkhold, he confidently responded, “Not in the least,” and leaped through the portal alongside Clea. The conclusion sets the stage for a potential third installment of “Doctor Strange,” but as of now, Marvel Studios has not revealed any official plans for a sequel.
