Harry Potter star Eddie Redmayne failed the auditions for Star Wars
The Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne has given some incredible performances throughout his acting career. The actor has been a part of some great franchises, including the Harry Potter series and Fantastic Beasts. Previously, during an interview, the actor shared that he once auditioned for the $51 billion franchise, but unfortunately, he couldn’t ace the role.
Redmayne auditioned for the role of Kylo Ren in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The actor explained that the scene offered to him during the auditions was quite complex, and it ultimately ended up being an embarrassing audition for him. The Danish Girl described the scene by stating,
“They gave me like a ‘Star Trek’ scene — or like something from ‘Pride and Prejudice.’ It was one of those films. With films that are top secret, they don’t give you the actual lines. So they give you a scene from ‘Pride and Prejudice,’ but then they tell you you’re auditioning for the baddie. If you’re me, you then put some ridiculous voice on.”
The 41-year-old actor further revealed that trying the role of an antagonist created a mess for him, and he failed to get the chance to be cast in a Star Wars film. Later, the role for which Redmayne auditioned went to Adam Driver.
