MCU’s Spiderman Tom Holland has high hopes for the fight scenes between Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds in the third installment of the Deadpool series. The 27-year-old actor is the latest to offer support for the highly anticipated movie, which started filming on May 23 this year according to Colossus actor Stefan Kapicic’s Instagram story.
Reynolds and Jackson have been teasing the collaboration between the X-Men and Deadpool for quite some time, and fans are reasonably excited. Wolverine’s appearance in the movie was confirmed in September last year. The storyline is expected to have elements of the Multiverse and alternate universes in line with this phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Tom Holland shares excitement about Deadpool and Wolverine clash
While promoting his Apple TV+ series The Crowded Room, Tom Holland spoke positively about the scenes he shot with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire for No Way Home. Additionally, he showered praise upon Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds when asked if he wished to work with the two actors. He said, “Yeah, of course I have. I’m a big fan of both of those guys.”
As Deadpool 3 shares the same stunt director as MCU’s Spider-Man movies, Holland was reasonably thrilled about the action scenes bound to occupy a major segment of the movie. He added,
“I know they have George Cottle (Jr.) on their side right now as their stunt coordinator and second unit director. You couldn’t ask for a better guy. So I’m very excited for the film. I wish them all the best and I can’t wait to see those two go at it.”
What can we expect in Deadpool 3 with Wolverine and the X-Man?
Wolverine and Deadpool share an antagonistic relationship in the Marvel comics and it will be interesting to see the direction taken in the storyline. Actor Hugh Jackman, who played the clawed superhero in the X-Men series and 2017’s Logan, has said of the push-and-pull liaison between the characters,
“When I keep thinking of me and Ryan, of Deadpool and Wolverine, which are classic comic-book rivals, there’s also a dynamic that I’ve never really got to do before as Wolverine.
Jackman wants to have “fun” with the role and in a podcast said that Wolverine would be very irritated with Wade Wilson. He added,
“They’re sort of opposites. My vinegar to his… like he’s the fast talking, quick-witted, loudmouth, and my character just wants to punch him in the head.”
Deadpool 3 to release in 2024 amid 2023 WGA’s strike delays
Known for their strict rules about spoilers, not much is known about the MCU film other than the fact that it will be the first ever R-rated film in the universe. The actors started filming last month, but fans will have to wait more than a year to see the final product in theatres.
There have been widespread impediments due to the ongoing writers’ strike, and the Ryan Reynolds-starrer film is no exception. In fact, one of the major setbacks is that as one of the writers of Deadpool 3, Reynolds himself, cannot legally ad-lib lines due to the WGA strike rules. Despite this, filming began in May, and it is expected that the film will come to theatres next year.
Deadpool 3 is set to release on November 24, 2024.
