Penn Badgley and Jenna Ortega’s dynamics throughout You. The Netflix thriller series has managed to grip the audience for the four seasons that it has aired. No matter how intriguing or bizarre the story might be, there is always one or the other aspect that attracts fans regardless. One such aspect also happened to be the relationship between Ortega’s character and Badgley’s protagonist.
Both of them had their own paths which collided much to their dismay. While the actress only became a part of the series during the second season, it was enough to make a major mark on the fans. She quickly became everyone’s favorite and the audience kept on demanding more of her. Although theories are still reigning wild about both of them, it was Ortega’s experience working with Badgley which made things even better.
Penn Badgley Induced Fear In Jenna Ortega
One thing fans noted about Jenna Ortega’s Ellie Alves was just how much she could go head-to-head with Penn Badgley’s Joe Goldberg. Although the two started off as people who were just trying to learn things from each other, it quickly turned into a thrilling back-and-forth between the two.
“Because when he is in it, he gets this look in his eyes, and I don’t think — I’ve never seen someone play the line of super sweet guy but also serial killer so nicely. He could go from charming to like I need to get out of this room right away just with his facial expression, which is so hard to do, but he kills it every time.”
The actress admitted that she would genuinely get scared of her co-star. His acting was always so spot-on that she would often find herself facing Joe Goldberg and not Badgley. While this was not something that bothered her so much, the switch from a sweet person to a terrifying one always took her by surprise.
Jenna Ortega Is Not One To Get Scared Easily
Jenna Ortega has done a lot of different roles but quite a few of them show just how much she leans towards the horror genre. Whether it is Wednesday, Scream, or more; the actress has a knack for the terrifying and scary. She even spent the majority of her childhood doing autopsies on dead animals.
“Anytime he got to film with me, he said it was like relaxing for him because we have these nice, real organic moments.”
It was a certain sense of similarity that Penn Badgley and she shared which made the latter’s experience also worth a while. It was their relationship in the series that was also something he could relate to besides the existence of a camera. He saw himself more like a human than a character he despises.
