From fast cars to intense stunts, the Fast & Furious movies are perfect for when you need that adrenaline rush going. From Vin Diesel to Dwayne Johnson, the cast found a place in the hearts of the fans. And now, there is soon going to be yet another addition to the franchise with Fast X and you better buckle up for this ride as things are going to get crazier than ever.
Since the Fast & Furious franchise has been around for as long as it has, the team is bound to have some fond memories from the sets. One hilarious story from the sets of Fast & Furious involves Ludacris, Dwayne Johnson, and Tyrese Gibson’s forehead. What makes this story stand out is the fact that it happened during the filming of one of the scenes and Dwayne Johnson’s ruthless improvisation left his co-star doing a spit take.
Dwayne Johnson Made Ludacris Spit Out his Drink
Remember when Dwayne Johnson’s Hobbs walks into the scene and Tyrese Gibson’s Roman goes, “Hey Mia, you better hide your baby oil”? Johnson replies with a counter-attack stating, “You better hide that big a** forehead” which caused Ludacris’ Tej to spit out his drink.
As it turns out, Johnson’s line was not scripted which means that it was actually Ludacris breaking character, although, he did manage to pull himself together. Not only did Johnson’s hilarious yet a little insulting comeback had Ludacris cracking up, but the entire audience as well. The fact that it was improvised just makes it even better!

How Dwayne Johnson’s Improvisation Led to a Spin-Off
While some actors might prefer to stick to the script, Johnson is certainly not one of them. Improvisation is his forte and Fast & Furious is enough proof of that. As it turns out, his improvisation skills are what led to Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, a spin-off based on the two characters.
In an interview with CBR, Johnson stated that he and Jason Statham were “pretty much chained together” and he recalled a scene where he asked Statham to change things up a bit. He told him that he is going to “talk a little sh*t” to him and wanted to see his honest reaction in the scene. He continued,
“So we are in the scene and I remember specifically saying, ‘When this is over I’m gonna knock your teeth so far down your throat you’re gonna stick a toothbrush up your a** to brush ‘em.’ And he looked up at me and started to crack up and broke character. That’s the take that we used in the movie and honestly, it was in that moment that this kind of unique thing happened.”
So basically, this was the point when Universal realized the chemistry between Johnson and Statham and decided that the duo was going to need their own movie. It sure looks like Johnson knows what he’s doing!
