Jeremy Renner’s snowplow accident on New Year’s Day was something that came as a shocker to all, bringing in a wave of thoughts and prayers from fans all over the world. For those unaware, the actor was gravely injured after being hit and run over by a snowplow at his home on January 1, 2023. Renner was helping his nephew who was stuck in a snowdrift when the accident occurred, sustaining blunt chest trauma and breaking more than 30 bones.
The whole of Hollywood rallied to express their concern and support after the accident. This included the OG Avengers team, some of whom paid him a visit, namely Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans. The Black Widow star recently opened up about her visit, and in the process disclosed excerpts from a private text chain that the original Avengers team is a part of.
Scarlett Johansson feared that she wouldn’t see Jeremy Renner ever again
Scarlett Johansson, in a recent interview with Variety, opened up about meeting Jeremy Renner when he was recovering. The actor who has starred alongside Renner in multiple Marvel films over the years shared that she was “so f**king happy to see him” and that she didn’t know if she was “ever going to see him again.”
“I was honestly so f**king happy to see him. I didn’t know if I was ever going to see him again. To not only see him again but to see him thriving and in such an amazing space, mentally. He’s a very spiritual person in general and a very soulful person. And you can see that in his work. It comes through. He has such a depth to him. And I just was so happy to see that he is full of life and light, and he’s also hilarious. We laughed a lot.”
Scarlett Johansson on responding to the news of Jeremy Renner’s accident and the OG Avengers‘ private text chain
Johansson, who was shooting for Project Artemis opposite Channing Tatum at the time of the accident, shared that the news of the mishap made her very “upset.” She further revealed that Renner’s remarkable recovery rate kickstarted some humor on a private text chain consisting of the original Avengers cast, namely Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, and herself.
“On the Avengers text chain, we’re like, ‘OK, you beat us all. That’s it. You won. That’s like real superhero stuff. It’s unbelievable.”
Chris Evans, who accompanied Johansson to meet Jeremy Renner, told that their mini-reunion was filled with “laughs, smiles, and hugs.” “No tears at all. Leave it to Jeremy to take something this potentially tragic and turn it into something so inspiring,” Evans said. The visit that brought together the Avengers stars happened sometime last month and was not publicized.
