Ubisoft is one of the largest video game companies in the world and has had various renowned titles under its belt since it was established in 1986 such as critically-acclaimed Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, and Splinter Cell to some average games like Child of Light and Valiant Hearts: The Great War. Even after having such a roster of successful games, Ubisoft has also failed to deliver many games as expected, for example, Fighters Uncaged and Beowulf: The Game.
The company has also been known for canceling projects before they are even released and earlier this year they canceled three games due to a decline in sales. Ubisoft is currently focusing on its Call of Duty-inspired title XDefiant which was supposed to be released by now and available on all modern platforms except Nintendo Switch, however, they came across a hiccup as gaming giants Xbox and PlayStation rejected the game from being on their digital stores.

Xbox and PlayStation Reject Ubisoft’s XDefiant
Xbox and PlayStation rejected Ubisoft‘s XDefiant from being available in their digital stores due to the game’s current state. According to a Ubisoft blog post, the shooter title was rejected its certification by Xbox and PlayStation, explained XDefiant producer, Mark Rubin. The blog also explains all the details regarding the submission process for being available on other platforms.
This means that the game has to go back to the drawing board again to be improved and made fit for general release. Ubisoft applied for XDefiant‘s certification at the end of July and got the results in mid-August which was not pass, meaning that the game’s release is now pushed between this month and October or until they get the certification.

Mark Rubin on XDefiant Release Date
Executive Producer Mark Rubin explained to gamers about the process involved in a game’s release and where XDefiant is right now. Mark Rubin said they have not been following the standard game release rules or gamers would already have a certain release date by now. He explained that they wanted to make a game that is transparent with the community and has listened to players and acted on their feedback. In the Ubisoft blog post, Rubin stated,
“If we were following the standard rules for game releases, we would have set a date far enough in advance with enough buffer to have a confident release date. However, like a lot of things with this game, we have not chosen the typical route.”
He concluded,
“To conclude, we set out since the concept of this game to be more transparent with our community and to listen to our players and act on their feedback. We’ve even shown that we will add features in the middle of development based on player requests.”
Mark Rubin said that they will try to release it as soon as they can and will further update the gamers on more details about the game. XDefiant will be released on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
