Upcoming survival horror indie game, Conscript, has found a publisher. Team17, known for games such as Overcooked! and Worms, officially announced a partnership with Conscript developer, Catchweight Studio. The “studio” is only one person, Jordan Mochi. He’s a 26-year-old video game developer based in Melbourne, Australia. With veteran game publisher Team17 supporting Conscript, players can expect the survival horror game to hit Steam/PC in 2024.
What is Conscript?
Conscript is a top-down classic survival horror game set during World War I. Inspired by the first four Silent Hill and Resident Evil games, Mochi took his favorite survival horror games and his love for history and created Conscript. He started development in early 2017 but opened up a Kickstarter page in June 2020. The campaign reached its AU$30,000 goal within a month’s time. Originally scheduled for release in May 2021, Mochi delayed Conscript to reduce crunch, make sure the game is bug free, and have more time to find the right publisher. Mochi would continue to update backers on his Kickstarter page and Twitter account. Mochi would also attend Gamescom and PAX Australia in 2022 to showcase Conscript to attendees.

Team17’s Partnership with Conscript
Longtime video game publishers, Team17, have agreed to publish Conscript for a tentative 2024 release on Steam/PC. Team17 is known for games such as Worms, Overcooked!, The Survivalists, Golf with Your Friends, and many more. Delaying Conscript from its initial May 2021 release worked out in Mochi’s favor as Team17 is now officially publishing Conscript. Mochi has been working on Conscript for over six years now and has finally landed a publisher. Mochi said:
“I’m glad to have backup from the experienced people at Team17…Over the last six years, I’ve been happy to see a community of players grow around Conscript, and I’m looking forward to working with Team17 to launch the game for the community and players around the world in 2024.”
