However, that specific movie is believed to be cursed as several actors, including Johnson, went through intense pain while shooting the movie. The shooting of the film took place in such conditions that even Johnson’s big muscular body couldn’t take it.

Actor Dwayne Johnson started out as a wrestler and joined WWE back in 1996, very soon he decided to enter the entertainment industry. The actor bagged a role in Beyond the Mat in 1996 and also starred in Stephen Sommers’ The Mummy Returns (2001). Since he was a fresh actor, the actor was not used to filming in extreme conditions. The 110-degree Saharan heat was too much for him as he suffered from a heatstroke and food poisoning while shooting. He explained that was “the worst I have ever felt in my life.” The actor also lost about 10 pounds.

Back in 2008, actor Brenden Fraser explained that the stunts he performed for three installments of The Mummy franchise completely damaged his body. He told GQ that he was put together by tape,

“I was put together with tape and ice—just, like, really nerdy and fetishy about ice packs. Screw-cap ice packs and downhill-mountain-biking pads, ’cause they’re small and light, and they can fit under your clothes. I was building an exoskeleton for myself daily. I needed a laminectomy. And the lumbar didn’t take, so they had to do it again a year later.”

The actor needed “a partial knee replacement, some more work on his back, bolting various compressed spinal pads together,” and even vocal cord surgery. He stated that he “was in and out of hospitals” for almost seven years.

When Dwayne Johnson entered the entertainment industry, he was told that his WWE personality will not get him roles. The actor appeared on Good Morning America last year and said,

“When I first got to Hollywood, many moons ago, out of the world of pro wrestling — the biggest stars at that time were George Clooney and Johnny Depp and Will Smith. I was told, ‘Well, if you wanna make it if you want to be a star then you can’t call yourself The Rock. Don’t talk about pro wrestling. You gotta lose weight, go on a diet, you’re too big, don’t go to the gym as much.’ If you don’t know any better you buy into it, and I bought into it for a couple of years before I said, ‘This ends right now. And I’m gonna be myself, and at least if I fail, I’m gonna fail being me.”

The Rock gained popularity in the late 1990s after he joined WWE. The fans became a fan of his work ethic and big muscular frame. After 8 years, he decided to quit the program in 2004 and pursue a career in acting.
