Angelina Jolie Devised A Genius Trick To Help Her Deaf Co-Star In $402M Marvel Movie Starring Salma Hayek

Wanted (2008) star Angelina Jolie has acquired enough experience in the film industry that she helped one of her co-stars in $402 million Eternals with a trick that left everybody surprised. It’s not Salma Hayek, but Jolie provided a solution to the deaf actress who played Makkari – Lauren Ridloff.

Ridloff, in her interaction with The New York Times, was all praises for Jolie by explaining that she put an end to the woes of the camera-rolling team. Jolie told them to use a laser pen to cue Ridloff since she couldn’t listen.

Ridloff became the first deaf superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and she explained how fortunate she was that the franchise is diversifying in ways that gave her and many others a chance to see themselves become a part of the interconnected universe.

Angelina Jolie’s Laser Pen Technique To Cue Lauren Ridloff

Lauren Ridloff revealed that the shooting for Eternals turned out to be quite frustrating for her as she couldn’t figure out when it was her cue to act. This happened majorly when there were scenes involving green screens, apparently, and she struggled with them as the crew would be behind her.

Angelina Jolie’s genius trick helped the crew make a circular movement with the laser pointer and “once it went away that meant, ‘Action!’” Ridloff said.

Despite Being Deaf Lauren Ridloff Gave Her All

Ridloff didn’t want her co-stars to suffer due to her disability and revealed that she wanted everyone to know how easy it was to work with her. Not just her, every actor on the set had some or the other challenges, and that pushed her to not seem too fragile.

“I was concerned about seeming too fragile,” she further told The New York Times. “But after working with others, I realized everyone has their own unique set of challenges, and that I need to think about what I need to deliver as an actor.”

Besides Eternals, Ridloff also has Sound of Metal (2019) and The Walking Dead to her credit.
