In 2006, Hollywood stars Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz starred in Darren Aronofsky’s fantasy romance, The Fountain. The film follows three people living in different centuries who embark on a search for the Tree of Life in order to protect their loved ones and receive the gift of immortality. The Fountain which was a labor of love for the director, received good responses from the public.
While Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz impressed viewers with their strong performances, they also had great chemistry in the film which involved the two stars sharing some intimate moments on screen. Hugh Jackman Was Taken Aback By Darren Aronofsky’s Demands in The Fountain
In The Fountain directed by Darren Aronofsky, Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz play characters bonded by love across time and space. This epic romantic saga saw both stars share a sizzling chemistry on screen. Despite Weisz being The Whale director’s wife at the time, Aronofsky did not leave any stone unturned to ensure that the intimate scenes hit front and center.
His passion and obsession with achieving romantic perfection took Hugh Jackman by surprise. Speaking to Black Book magazine (via Instyle), the X-Men star narrated an incident during the filming where the filmmaker demanded his wife to shed her inhibitions.
“There was a scene that called for me falling into the bath with Rachel. I was fully clothed, and we started to kiss, which was meant to be the end of the scene. Darren, who was sitting no less than three yards from us, never called cut, but like good pros we carried on until my pants started coming off, which is when we started laughing. Darren screamed, ‘Why didn’t you take his pants off, Rachel?’ And she yelled back, ‘Because I was shy!'”
Ultimately, Aronofsky’s ways paid off with Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz sending hearts fluttering with their organic and emotional chemistry in the film.
Hugh Jackman Promises A New And Improved Wolverine In Deadpool 3
Hugh Jackman has played Wolverine in nine films and has proved that he is the perfect choice for the deadly clawed superhero who was first introduced to audiences in the X-Men films. Jackman’s intense physical performance and charisma ensured that he was one of the biggest draws in any of the Marvel films that were released with his presence. The Les Miserables star is now set to revisit his iconic role in Deadpool 3 starring Ryan Reynolds. Speaking to Variety about how Wolverine became easier for him to internalize and understand through experience, Jackman said,
“A little part of me now thinks I’d be better at it. Is that arrogance of age or something? Wolverine’s a tortured character — more tortured than me. But I always get the feeling of him being comfortable in his own skin. And I feel more comfortable in my own skin now, even though it’s messier.”
With a first look at a viral video of both Jackman and Reynolds teasing audiences for what is to come, Deadpool 3 looks all set to rule the box office with two of Hollywood’s biggest and most charismatic stars at the helm.
