Dune actor Timothée Chalamet is one of the most popular young actors in Hollywood. The actor has worked in some remarkable movies like Call Me by Your Name, Don’t Look Up, Little Women, and more. The actor will be playing the lead in the upcoming fantasy musical Wonka by the end of the year. Though the actor is climbing the ladder of success, one step at a time, he does regret losing chances to work in some of the highest-grossing movies.
Chalamet was supposed to do a cameo in Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling’s high-grossing film, however, things did not work out for the actor.
Timothée Chalamet lost out on a role in Margot Robbie’s Barbie
Greta Gerwig had planned a cameo for the talented actors Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet in her recent $1.2 billion grossing film. The director revealed that the two actors had worked with her before on her films Lady Bird and Little Women. The actors were supposed to have an appearance in the movie, but things did not pan out as planned due to various circumstances.
The director revealed in an episode of Hollywood First Look, that Chalamet visited the sets and was amazed. He was left wondering why he was not a part of the billion-dollar blockbuster. Gerwig disclosed Chalamet’s thoughts as he took a tour of the vibrant pink set. She said,
“I tried to get them both in it. They both couldn’t do it. Although Timothée did come by the set and then said, ‘I should have been in this,’ And I was like, ‘I know! Why aren’t you in this?’”
Though the Dune star could not make a cameo in the film, several other cameos delighted the viewers.
The Barbie movie is based on the characters of Barbie, portrayed by Margot Robbie, and Ryan Gosling played Ken. The story follows their journey of self-discovery as they get expelled from Barbieland for not being perfect.
Timothée Chalamet auditioned for Tom Holland’s role in Spider-man: Homecoming
Tom Holland has become a fan favorite in the last few years with the role of neighborhood-friendly Spider-man. The actor has delivered some of the highest-grossing comic book superhero movies like Spider-man: Homecoming, Spider-man: No Way Home, Avengers: Endgame, and others. However, Holland was not the only star who auditioned for the role. Dune star Timothée Chalamet had also auditioned for it. If the actor was selected, his career would have taken a completely different route.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about the audition, Chalamet explained,
“I read twice, and I left sweating in total panic. I called my agent, [UTA’s] Brian Swardstrom, and I said, ‘Brian, I thought about this a lot, and I have to go back and knock on that door and read again.’ He told me the story of Sean Young and how in an attempt to become Catwoman she had scared everyone away when she showed up at the studio gates in costume.”
The actor did not get the role, however, he made a mark with independent projects like Call Me by Your Name (2017), which offered him an Oscar nomination, and Lady Bird (2017).
