Emily Blunt, who recently starred in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer alongside Cillian Murphy, shared a story about how her daughter Hazel, who is 9 now, trolled her when she was only 2 years old.
Blunt may have been a bada*s in Edge of Tomorrow (2014) and Sicario (2015), but her 2-year-old daughter humbled her down by reminding her that she is her mommy at home.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in April of 2016, Blunt confidently showed off her baby bump, while she was pregnant with her second daughter, Violet. She is now 7.
Blunt revealed that she was trying to have a comforting bath with Hazel, and upon seeing her baby bump, she had a massive wow! moment and ended up poking fun at it.
Hazel Trolled Mom Emily Blunt During Bath Time
As she was expecting her second child, Blunt didn’t want her firstborn to feel lonely. So, she decided to have a bath with her. Having a slight baby bump at that point in time, she said that she didn’t think her body would be embarrassing to her child.
“So we did have a bath,” said Blunt. “We’ve had many baths together and I thought that I was not yet at the point where my body was just really embarrassing to my child. So, I got into the bath with her and she looked at me, and she went, ‘Whoa! Mama Big!’”
Not wanting to feel ashamed of her body, she compared the incident to the awkward times when teenagers catch their parents nak*d. She said, “We’re never bathing again.”
Emily Blunt On Increasing Her Bonding With Hazel
Hazel, as Emily Blunt noted, blatantly rejected the fact that she would become a big sister when she revealed her pregnancy for the first time. Hazel being a firstborn, enjoys a “top dog” position in the home, said Blunt. Having another child, according to her, a parent has to focus more on their bonding with the first child.
“Her first response when I said, ‘You know, Hazel, there’s a baby in here, you’re gonna be a big sister.’ She looked at me and she went, ‘Nope.’ I think that’s what people say is that the relationship between you and your first child is the one that changes the most, ‘cause they’ve got competition. So, I was like, ‘Oh I’ll have lots of time with her now.’”
Working with Hollywood biggies like Christopher Nolan, Matt Damon, and Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt is known to effectively spend time with her family as well.
She will next be seen in David Leitch’s The Fall Guy, starring Ryan Gosling. It is set to release on March 1, 2024.
