“What is grief, if not love persevering?”: Upcoming MCU Show Replacing Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch Despite Incredible WandaVision Arc

Upcoming MCU Show Replacing Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch Despite Incredible WandaVision Arc

Elizabeth Olsen’s work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has created one of the most memorable characters in the entire franchise. The Scarlet Witch, better known as Wanda Maximoff, is one of the most complex and powerful characters in the multiverse. First appearing in Captain America: Winter Solider, Maximoff was just a girl who had been experimented on by Hydra, seeking her revenge on Tony Stark.

Over the course of six films, however, her character turned into the Scarlet Witch, the very personification of chaos, able to wrap reality as she sees fit and turn from a budding superhero, into the villain of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Wanda, however, was most explored as a character in the beloved Disney+ series, WandaVision, alongside her love interest, Vision. The question that arises now is what is next for these two characters in the MCU.

What Is Next For Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff?

The last time we saw Elizabeth Olsen’s beloved, Wanda Maximoff, was in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where it was implied that her character died after falling off Wundagore Mountain. While many were afraid that this will be the end of her, multiple sources have come out to say that this is, most definitely, not the last we will see of the character. They have confirmed that she is currently in a dormant state at the end of The Witches’ Road, an alternate dimension within the borders of the known universe.

This dimension is expected to make an appearance and be explained in the upcoming series, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, following Agatha Harkness, the villain of WandaVision. It is also expected that through, there will come a potential special focused solely on the dimension, which will be loosely connected to the MCU.

Though these projects will introduce future projects that the Scarlet Witch could appear in, she is not expected to make an appearance in these. There is however, another spin-off project from the WandaVision storylines focused on the character of Vision, called VisionQuest, however, this could completely replace Wanda Maximoff from Vision’s life.

VisionQuest Introducing Vision’s New Synthezoid Wife

VisionQuest is an upcoming series, focused on Paul Bettany’s Vision, who will return in this series to go on a quest for self-discovery, following the events of WandaVision. The series is a loose adaptation of Tom King’s The Vision comic run and is rumored to feature Vision’s synthezoid family, his wife, Virginia, and his children Viv, and Vin.

In the comics, Virginia is the Vision wife, who was created using the brainwaves of Wanda Maximoff and was modeled after her. While this would be a very interesting plot for the show, it is still unknown if this part of the comic will actually be adapted into the show and how accurately.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos is expected to come out sometime in 2023.
