Season 2 Scripts are Ready

Marty Adelstein, CEO of One Piece production company Tomorrow Studios, recently told Variety that “we’ve got the scripts ready” for Season 2. Viewers may not have to wait long to see those scripts brought to life if the Hollywood SAG-AFTRA strike against the AMPTP is settled and the contract is renewed. Furthermore, producer Becky Clements feels that once the strike is over, they may have it all wrapped up and ready to go in a year or 18 months.

Giving hype to the speculations CEO Adelstein told Variety:

“Realistically, hopefully, a year away, if we move very quickly, and that is a possibility. Somewhere between a year and 18 months, we could be ready for air.”

If the strikes end this year and move fast, One Piece live-action season 2 could be released as soon as 2024.

One Piece Live Action Season 1 Exceeded Expectations

According to Netflix, the adaptation received 140 million hours of viewing and 18.5 million views in the four days following its August 31 launch. CEO Adelstein believes that Netflix is working on the decision for the series and may reply within a week or two. While talking to Variety, Adelstein said:

“I think [Netflix is] looking at various situations about how many episodes they do, do they break them up? I think they’re trying to figure that out this week. I suspect we’ll hear from them in the next week to two weeks. There seems to be a big impetus to keep this going and to come up with a long-term strategy. So we’re just waiting for that.”
