The Office is a little gray and a mix of documentary and comedy. A show made on a Monday only to be filled with Saturdays. It takes place in a world filled with pagers and cubicles and board rooms and of course, a basketball court. The series features a kind of social realism largely missing from more current notions about the importance of “meaningful” work.

Set in Scranton, Pennsylvania, in the sales office of a nearly obsolete paper company, the show’s characters initially didn’t create much of a stir in the initial seasons. The Office made its audience feel better about their professional and work lives by bringing forward a workplace with a dull and gray decor and more gray coworkers. Rainn Wilson who played one of the main characters of the sitcom spoke about Steve Carell’s leave from the show towards the latter half of the series.

As the show aired for 9 seasons, most of the actors have had their fair share of memories from the show. However, there is one topic that a lot of fans are most curious about, Steve Carell leaving The Office. One of the loved characters from The Office was Jim Halpert played John Krasinski.

John Krasinski got emotional talking about Steve Carell as he said,”It’s an insanely special relationship we have with each other on the show, and Steve’s leaving is the first time we’ve been snapped out of it and had to think about how much we all rely on each other.”

“No one can replace him. That goes for him as an actor, because no one has the sense of humor he does, but also there’s no person who has his incredible positivity and professionalism, and just a really good heart. So we’re losing a friend first and foremost.”

Steve Carell’s former co-star Oscar Nunez expressed his thought stating that Steve’s departure affected The Office so much that it became a different show.

He said, “It was like, ‘Wow, the show’s over, and now we’re going to do another show without Steve. Someone’s going to come in and be the boss. The Office was over: Steve left, and now it’s another show. It was fun, meeting those people was great, but when Steve left, it was very sad”

The actor told Parade at the time, “I will miss all my friends. We’ve known each other now for seven, eight years. I mean, it’s been a long time since the time we shot the pilot until now, so that’s by far what I’ll miss the most, the friendships that I’ve gained there.
