Hollywood is in full swing as there are many reports circulating that our favorite swashbuckler, Johnny Depp, may be making a comeback to the world of the Pirates of the Caribbean series. After the actor captivated audiences worldwide with his endearing portrayal of Captain Jack Sparrow, fans yearned for the character’s naughty antics to make a comeback.
Since the trial involving Depp and Amber Heard concluded, there have been numerous rumors suggesting that Disney may change its mind about considering the Jeanne du Barry actor. Depp himself even went so far as to say that he would not go back to Disney, even if he were paid an outrageous sum of money.
But, as per the latest reports, the actor is on the verge of reprising one of his most well-known roles in his career, so perhaps time has already begun to mend those wounds.
Johnny Depp May Make A Comeback As Jack Sparrow?
Johnny Depp may return to the Pirates of the Caribbean since one of the franchise’s producers, Jerry Bruckheimer, declared that he would “love” to see the actor reprise his Captain Jack Sparrow role in the sixth installment of the movie series.
On the Oscars red carpet, when questioned about the Disney series, Bruckheimer informed Entertainment Tonight:
“We’re all working on it [the next Pirates film]. We’ll see how it comes out. We’re very excited, I think we’re gonna have a great screenplay when, and we’re getting close.”
When asked if Depp would return to the role, he responded:
“We’ll see. I would love it. I would love to have him in the movie – that’s all that I can tell you.”
The news might surprise some fans as well as Depp, who spent the majority of last year involved in a legal dispute over libel with his ex-wife Amber Heard.
The court case resulted from Heard’s 2018 op-ed piece for the Washington Post, in which she claimed she had been the victim of s*xual and physical abuse but avoided specifically naming Depp.
Johnny Depp Reacted to Jenna Ortega Dating Rumors
The likelihood of seeing Jenna Ortega and Johnny Depp cuddling is too far-fetched to occur anytime soon. According to reports, Ortega and Depp have both denied dating rumors.
Last week, the unreliable gossip website Deux Moi leaked information about the two eccentric actors dating each other in a since-expired Instagram Story. Additionally, it was rumored that the two would collaborate on Beetlejuice 2, a Tim Burton project in which Ortega is already involved, according to Variety.
Also, Depp’s spokesperson recently denied that the actor was engaged in Beetlejuice 2 production or having a romantic relationship with Ortega in a statement to NME last week:
“Mr. Depp has no personal or professional relationship with Ms. Ortega whatsoever. He has never met her or spoken to her. He is not involved in any project with her, nor does he intend to be. He is appalled by these baseless and malicious rumors that are intended to harm his reputation and career.”
Also, the Daily Mail reported that the actress, 20, quickly put an end to the dating rumors by using her Instagram Story last week, saying:
“This is so ridiculous I can’t even laugh. I have never met or worked with Johnny Depp in my life. Please stop spreading lies and leave us alone.”
The Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, which is the 15th-highest-grossing movie series of all time, has made over $4.5 billion in worldwide box office revenue.
The last film of the franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, was released in 2017, and despite receiving generally unfavorable reviews from critics, it still managed to gross $796 million globally on a $230–320 million budget.
Disney Plus offers streaming for all of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
