Reddit user Tidyckilla shared his experience about this accident on the Starfield subreddit. He expresses relief and gratitude towards how the game saved his family’s life. The Reddit user was quite excited to play this game ever since it was announced years ago. Tidyckilla, having early access to the game, decided to play the game a few days before the release with his wife. The accident occurred on the night of August 31. His decision to play the game meant he would have been wide awake, which helped him listen to the explosion that suddenly went off downstairs.

When Tidyckilla descended the stairs, he discovered flames raging through the stairwell. He and his wife responded quickly and got out of their apartment in time along with their cat, to safety. Even though he said that some of them were slightly injured, Tidyckilla escaped what could’ve been life-threatening.

The post begins with, “Starfield literally saved mine and my family’s life on September 1st,” 

The Reddit user, Tidyckilla explained his anticipation regarding the brand-new title and continued, “On the night of August 31st I decided to stay up and play as long as possible to experience this new universe. At 2:26 in the morning, while playing the game, I heard an explosion from my downstairs neighbors apartment.”

He explained how it wasn’t a small explosion as it started a fire. “I paused my game to see what was happen, when I opened the door I saw flames rising up our stairwell to our apartment.”

The Reddit user posted a picture of the blazing fire which was clicked from the other side of the street from the apartment. The sheer intensity of the fire implies how grave this accident could have been. The post was accompanied by some additional pictures of the aftermath of the fire. Apparently, one neighbor was killed in this accident, while three others were injured and rescued by the firefighters.
