Celebrities have often found themselves in the middle of media lies regarding their love life, with a recent example being Hayley Atwell, who debunked reports of ever being in a romantic bond with Tom Cruise. And back in the 2000s, Gwyneth Paltrow experienced a similar situation, but in the Iron Man star’s case, the media lies would eventually become true.
Before Paltrow joined forces with Robert Downey Jr to kickstart the MCU with Iron Man, the actress found herself under the media spotlight, with reports claiming she was dating Chris Martin.
Media lies resulted in strengthening Iron Man star Gwyneth Paltrow’s bond with Chris Martin
Although Iron Man star Gwyneth Paltrow eventually came across musician Chris Martin, it was long after the Media started spreading rumors about the two. Reflecting on the situation, Paltrow stated the whole thing was funny to her as the two eventually fell for each other and tied the knot in 2003, but they didn’t even meet each other when the media initially started spreading these rumors.
“It’s funny because people had started writing that we were going out and we had never even met.” She said. “And then he was in Los Angeles doing a concert and an actress that he had a crush on was supposed to come to the concert. When she didn’t show up, he was so annoyed that he said, ‘Oh, this is for my girlfriend Gwyneth Paltrow.'”
But unlike most celebrity cases, this time the media making a hoopla actually worked in Paltrow’s favor, as the fuss around the two pushed their bond to the next level, resulting in them getting married.
Gwyneth Paltrow maintains a close bond with Chris Martin after divorce
After a healthy 10-year marriage, where the two welcomed a son and a daughter, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Chris Martin eventually parted ways in 2016, as she went on to marry Brad Falchuk in 2018. But despite no longer being together, Paltrow maintained a close bond with her former husband and hasn’t backed away from commending the musician on several occasions. While announcing her divorce, the actress explained,
“We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and coparent, we will be able to continue in the same manner,”
The Iron Man star and Chris Martin agreed to have joint custody of their kids after the divorce was finalized, and even years after parting ways, the actress remains grateful “to him for giving me these kids.”
