Henry Cavill has made it a habit of playing larger-than-life characters to perfection. After his edgy, dark, and impressive version of Superman in Man Of Steel, the British star made a big impression with his performance in the popular web series The Witcher in which he played a magically enhanced monster-hunter with supernatural abilities. Both roles required Cavill to internalize the brooding nature of the character which the star did excellently.
Despite Geralt of Rivia being a stoic and silent powerhouse in The Witcher, Henry Cavill ensured that his off-screen persona was anything but serious. The actor made it a point to bring in camaraderie and interaction on set and went out of the way to get to know his cast and crew beyond their assigned roles.
Henry Cavill Believed In A Polite Value System On Set
Henry Cavill is much more than his strikingly handsome persona. The star is also someone who believes in developing and sustaining relationships beyond the film set and this quality was evident in his demeanor towards the cast and crew in The Witcher. Though Cavill played an intense and serious character in the show, the actor went out of the way to exchange polite pleasantries with his co-actors and crew members in an effort to get to know them better. Speaking of the importance of a value system in one’s life, Cavill said,
“A set is often rush-rush-rush, and we forget the basic human decencies. I want people to know I respect everything they do and they’re just doing a job like I am. To me, it’s just respect and good manners.”
The star added that this philosophy that he followed on set allowed him to interact and take an interest in people’s lives while also appreciating their efforts at trying to succeed in their professional journeys.
There’s A Downside To Henry Cavill’s Friendly Personality
Henry Cavill’s unique method of greeting every single person with a smile on the set of The Witcher has been commended by his co-stars, crew, and fans. But the actor’s desire to create a positive working atmosphere also had a downside. Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich said that while she appreciated Henry Cavill’s efforts to make the set a comfortable space, his insistence on greeting every single person often resulted in a substantial delay in filming.
“It’s to the point where sometimes our ADs are like, ‘OK, we have a huge crew, you can’t ask everyone,’”
Hissrich went on to add that she was only nitpicking and praised the DC star for his genuine efforts at uniting the cast and crew through friendship and camaraderie. She also believed that Cavill’s philosophy on life should be an example for other big stars to emulate and follow.
