Unlike Redfall, Starfield has everyone’s attention. The game is scheduled to launch on 6 September 2023. Most people have already pre-ordered the game. Gamers who received the review copies said that Bethesda did magic with the video game. Everything about Starfield is pure gold. There is almost nothing to complain about. But this was not the case a few months ago.
Everyone is praising Bethesda now, but a few months back, people were annoyed with Bethesda. Bethesda released Redfall, which failed miserably. But recently, an interview with Bethesda’s Pete Hines has surfaced. Pete Hines made bold claims during that interview that shocked the gaming community. People were asking how he could make such claims even after such failure.
Pete Hines Compares Redfall to Fallout 76
Redfall was released on 1 May 2023. It was developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. Initially, the game started at 30 fps, but the developers promised that it would come to 60 fps with the update patches. They did update it with several other features but did not fulfill the promise of 60 fps. The video game was heavily criticized and received low ratings. It was a thrashing to Bethesda.
Pete Hines said,
“We are the same company that has had launches that didn’t go the way we wanted, and we don’t quit or abandon stuff just because it didn’t start right. The Elder Scrolls Online’s PC launch was not flawless, but we stuck with it. Now it’s like this insanely popular multiplatform. It’s the same with Fallout 76. Redfall is no different for us.”
He added,
“Okay, we didn’t get the start we wanted, but it’s still a fun game… and we’re going to keep working on it. We’re going to do 60fps. We’re going to get it to be a good game because we know, as a first-party studio, Game Pass lives forever. There will be people ten years from now who are going to join Game Pass, and Redfall will be there.”
But even after such an awful result, Bethesda’s Pete Hines believes that Redfall will eventually pick up its pace. He made bold claims like people would play Redfall on Game Pass after a decade. Elder Scroll Online for PC did not perform well, but several people still play the game after so long. He went on to say that Fallout 76 also went through the same experience. Fans were not happy with him comparing Redfall to a legendary video game like Fallout 76.

Problems With Redfall
Bethesda’s motive was to clear the path for Starfield through Redfall. But the plan backfired as it received 5/10 on Steam. The game has less than 20 daily active players. Fans criticized the missions and how there was no creativity in the gameplay, and the enemy designs were atrocious. Moreover, Bethesda always has problems with bugs, so it boosted people’s hatred towards the game. Redfall‘s downfall saw how Xbox was responsible for the weak release.
Creating a video game to attract fans for another game is never a good idea. It shows that the executives lack creativity and responsibility. But Pete Hines saying Redfall will be the same as Fallout 76 is something no one saw coming. No one knows what will happen in the future. But in the present, Redfall is a million miles behind Fallout 76.
