Bryce Dallas Howard has always garnered praise for delving deep into her character and bringing out her charm which entices everyone’s eyes. From catching the attention of renowned filmmaker, M. Night Shyamalan with her work in As You Like It, she got her leading role in 2006’s Lady in the Water. While she continued to work in some famous franchises, she gained critical acclaim when she portrayed the racist role of Hillary “Hilly” Walters Holbrook in the Oscar-nominated film, The Help.
Bryce Dallas Howard Addressed What The Help Lacked!
The Help featuring Bryce Dallas Howard in the villainous role was a critically panned film but its’ race depiction drew criticism as having a white savior narrative. Many critics brought out the topic and shared how there are several better films from black storytellers to watch rather than keeping the film as a good example.
Addressing the same, she spoke on her Facebook profile stating she thinks that her project would be unlikely the best film to learn about civil rights.
Speaking of her experience working with everyone, she stated,

Directed by Tate Taylor, the 2011 film is based on Kathryn Stockett’s 2009 novel of the same name. It revolves around Emma Stone’s character, Skeeter Phelan who works on writing a book that features the perspective of black maids working for white families.
Bryce Dallas Howard Would Have Said No If It Were Made Today!
In a 2020 interview with The Los Angeles Times, Howard opened up about refusing to appear in her 2011 film if she was asked to appear in it at the time.
Starring an ensemble cast that involves Viola Davis, and Jessica Chastain among several others, the film grossed $216 million worldwide. It also got nominated for four Oscars including Best Picture.
