Kate Winslet is one of the most talented and charismatic personalities in all of Hollywood. With an impressive range as an actor as vast as hers, the Titanic star has won numerous titles as well as the hearts of fans worldwide. But while she is regarded as one of the fiercest actresses in the industry who never backs down from doing whatever her role requires of her, this one scene seemingly got her freaked out.
Though the fact that the scene was a n-de scene that she had to film with her dear friend Leonardo DiCaprio wasn’t what freaked her out, however, what did catch her off-guard was that it was her husband of the time, Sam Mendes, who was to shoot the scene.
The N-de Scene With Leonardo DiCaprio That Got Kate Winslet Freaked Out
Kate Winslet is known for her many charms and talents, especially her ability to do everything she sets her mind to and her fierce passion to do it. But for an actress who never backs down from unpacking herself if her role requires it, this particular s-x scene somehow managed to freak her out.
This dates back to when her blockbuster movie, Revolutionary Road (2008), was in filming. Starring opposite Leonardo DiCaprio as his love interest, the Titanic actress had to do an intimate scene with her dear friend. However, this wasn’t what caught her off guard, but rather the fact that it was her husband of that time, director Sam Mendes, who was filming the scene.
Recalling her reaction just before shooting the n-de scene, DiCaprio said,
“When the scene was about to start, Kate said, in front of the crew, ‘Wait, wait, this is totally weird.’ She turned to both Sam and I and said, ‘Are you guys okay?’ We both looked at each other and said, Yeah, we’re totally fine. She said, ‘It’s even weirder that you’re both totally fine.'”
But irrespective of her panicked reaction while shooting, the movie still ended up becoming a superhit that was much loved by fans worldwide.
Leonardo DiCaprio Was Not At All Bothered By Filming The Scene Despite The Circumstances
While Kate Winslet, on the one hand, was freaking out over having to shoot a s-x scene with another man, be it even her best friend, in front of her then-husband, Leonardo DiCaprio, on the other hand, was completely chill about it. Sharing his own experience of filming that one particular scene with Winslet, the Titanic star said,
“Kate Winslet is one of my dearest friends. We have the ultimate trust in each other and the best of intentions for what we want to do. I knew Kate before Sam [Mendes, her husband] even met her. So on the outside, it may seem strange to do a s-x scene with a woman while her husband is directing. But it didn’t feel that way to me.”
Needless to say, both Kate Winslet as well as Leonardo DiCaprio’s hard work and endurance while filming the movie paid off, as the film received critical acclamation from fans and critics alike for its unique portrayal of emotions faced by people in the real world.
