He talked about an “acquaintance” who told him, “You aren’t gay. That doesn’t exist. You are just afraid of men.” The individual did not stop there and went on to make explicit comments, saying, “I’m going to f*ck you to make you realize you aren’t gay.”
The Inception actor also shared that a few days later, he came across the same person at the gym, where he told him that he does not have any problem with gay people. However, Page was not convinced and told him, “I think you might.” He also shares how this was not the only such incident he faced since coming out as gay and transgender.
Elliot Page Highlights the Reality in His Book
During his interview with People regarding his book, Elliot Page talked about the awful things that queer and trans people have to face constantly. shared that he has had similar experiences throughout his life, like the L.A. birthday party and how “queer and trans people deal with it incessantly.”
Page claimed that despite facing such awful things, they are expected to brush it off. And this was the reason he shared this story in his book. “I put that story in the book because it’s about highlighting the reality, the sh*t we deal with, and what gets sent to us constantly,” he shared.
The X-Men star also said that he purposely did not share that person’s name in the book. But he also mentioned that many others at the party listened and saw what happened, and those people, along with that individual, would know who Page is talking about in his book.
Pageboy is expected to release on 6 June 2023.
