Several DC fans are begging James Gunn to bring back Henry Cavill almost daily. But many seem to forget that there’s another Superman whose show is ongoing- Tyler Hoechlin. He stars as the Man of Steel in Superman and Lois. The show airs on the CW and then becomes available for streaming on HBO Max.
It’s currently airing its third season and has been renewed for a fourth one already. Plenty of people find Hoechlin’s hero to be a better version of Superman than Cavill’s. And thus, many are asking if there’s a chance Gunn will take his Superman as DCU’s last son of Krypton. However, the actor doesn’t have much hope.
Tyler Hoechlin Comments On Joining James Gunn’s DCU As Superman
Tyler Hoechlin recently appeared at Illinois’ Superman Celebration in Metropolis. He was asked if James Gunn or anyone from WBD had asked him to appear as DCU’s premiere hero. To this, the Teen Wolf actor replied that he hadn’t been contacted and believes that his chances of being called on are low as well. Hoechlin said:
“I have not had any of those conversations, no. I don’t think they want to double book me. So I think…hopefully, we’ll have another schedule to worry about, so we’ll see. We’ll see. I’m excited to see it. I’m excited to see who they get.”
The actor also expressed that he’s a fan of James Gunn and hoped that the DC universe would be better with the director overseeing it. He said:
“I’m sure he’s gonna be a phenomenal. I’m a big James Gunn fan and so I’m excited to see what he does with it. I’m happy he’s over at DC and whoever they get, I’m sure, will do a phenomenal job.”
However, fans are upset that the co-CEO of DC Studios isn’t even looking at the actor in his search for the newest Superman.
DC Fans Want James Gunn To Give Tyler Hoechlin A Chance At Being DCU’s Superman
Superman fans think it isn’t fair that Tyler Hoechlin, who arguably has been better received as the Man of Steel than Henry Cavill, isn’t even being given a chance to become DCU’s hero. Many think it isn’t necessary for Hoechlin to play the same version of Clark Kent he portrays in Superman and Lois. After all, DC and WBD can just say that he’s a different version from the multiverse.
Here’s what fans are saying:
However, it doesn’t look like fans will get their wish because bringing in an actor already playing a version of Superman will probably unnecessarily complicate things. Also, if that was the plan, then Gunn could have kept Henry Cavill and shown him as a new version of Superman in the DCU. As such, it’s clear that the new plan is to hard reboot.
