TV Shows have a plus point- they can continue for many seasons and episodes. So, when they do so, the characters who are in the show make a relationship with the audience. Now, this relationship is very personal. It’s a bond that is very intimate. Every person interprets the character in his/her way. But, when the show makers change our favorite character without any justification and act as if nothing happened is what irritates the fans most. We loved that character, it was our favorite. And you changed it without any notice? Not fair. So, here’s a list of characters that were played by a new face and the fans didn’t like it. Check it out!
1. Reggie From “Riverdale”
The character Reggie in Riverdale was originally played by Ross Butler. However, the fans were shocked to see Charles Melton take his place. Even though Melton nailed the character. The fans did miss seeing Ross playing it. Butler quit the show because apparently, he was too busy filming for Season 2 of 13 Reasons Why and the filming schedules weren’t playing well along.
2. Beric Dondarrion From “Game Of Thrones”
Game of Thrones is one TV show that has recast its characters a lot many times! One of them is for the character Beric Dondarrion. Earlier the character was played by David Michael Scott. Later, Richard Dormer took over the role. The makers thought the fans wouldn’t notice them recast David as he only appeared for one episode. But that’s not how it works. Fans are really smart. They notice everything. Everything.
3. Carol From “FRIENDS”
This character was somewhat important to the show as Carol announced she was pregnant with Ross’ child. The character was played by Anita Barone for only one episode wherein she announced her pregnancy. However, she decided to quit to pursue her acting career full-time. So, the show makers recast the character. It was then played by Jane Sibbett.
4. Jason From “Pretty Little Liars”
Not many things made sense about this show anyway. But the fact that they abruptly recast Parker Bagley after one season was a weird decision. He was replaced by Drew Van Acker. They recast the character, fine. But they recast it with a person who had a floppy hairstyle. This was not a great move.
5. Robin Hood From “Once Upon A Time”
Tom Ellis played the role of Robin Hood just once in Season 1 of “Once Upon A Time”. However, the filming schedule wasn’t suiting him, so he quit. The actor was replaced by Sean Maguire. The choice was smart. But fans didn’t like the fact that they changed the actor. But the makers had to do this.
6. Laurie From “That ’70s Show”
The character of Laurie was first played by Lisa Robin Kelly. However, she was replaced by Christina Moore. That’s because the former actress had drinking problems. It was a wise call by the makers, but still, fans weren’t comfortable seeing a new face all of a sudden.
7. Darrin From “Bewitched”
The character of Darrin was played by Dick York. He was even famously known for this role of his. However, he had to quit to treat his chronic back pain. So, he was replaced by Dick Sargent. The name is the same, but the personality is completely different. The fans weren’t pleased with the replacement. The show did continue for a few years. However, with a bad rating.
