Tom Cruise is not the only famous actor who has been associated with the Church of Scientology for a while with John Travolta also being an active member of it. While there are many celebrities that do not like the Mission: Impossible actor, Travolta’s dismay with the actor comes from his position in the Church. With actors not liking him because of his behavior or how he is in relationships, the Saturday Night Fever actor had a completely different reason.
Although Cruise is a respected actor who has been praised for his talent and enthusiasm when it comes to filming, his people skills aren’t the best. Whether it is Brooke Shields or Katie Holmes, many find valid reasons not to like the actor.
John Travolta’s Jealousy Towards Tom Cruise
Despite never saying anything outright, it was no secret that John Travolta is not a fan of Tom Cruise. A former member of the Church of Scientology stated that it all came to be because Cruise happened to be the only celebrity who has a direct link to the Chief of the Church, David Miscavige.
“Cruise is the only celeb with a direct line to Miscavige,” Brendan Tighe added. “Travolta didn’t have that. Travolta doesn’t get anything free, no one is giving him absurd gifts like an airplane hangar, custom-made bikes, or over-the-top favors.” he continued, “It’s no secret that Cruise and Travolta despised each other.”
Travolta’s despise comes from jealousy as to how Cruise gets all these gifts and massive favors while the actor has never gotten anything for free. From custom-made bikes to airplane hangars, Travolta has gotten none of those. His hatred developed because the Top Gun actor got the things he wanted and soon the jealousy and envy turned into hatred and dislike.
Mark Wahlberg Is Not A Fan Of Tom Cruise Either
Mark Wahlberg was highly offended when Tom Cruise compared filming The Mummy with fighting in a war in Afghanistan. He stated that in no way could the two be compared. No matter how many training camps an actor will go through, it does not mean they can compare themselves to actual soldiers.
“For actors to sit there and talk about ‘Oh I went to SEAL training,’ and I slept on the — I don’t give a f**k what you did,” the actor added. “You don’t do what these guys did … For somebody to sit there and say my job was as difficult as somebody in the military. How fu**ing dare you. While you sit in a makeup chair for two hours.”
Filming movies and fighting a war cannot be compared at all. So much so that when the cast of Saving Private Ryan was told to attend a military boot camp, many were ready to quit the movie in only three days because of how difficult it was proving to be.
