Tom Hiddleston Set to Star in Horror Maestro Mike Flanagan’s Stephen King Adaptation of ‘The Life of Chuck’

Nailing a horror movie isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but this isn’t the case for director Mike Flanagan, who has made quite a name for himself in the genre. Best known for his work on television shows, The Haunting of Hill House, The Midnight Club, and Midnight Mass, the director is also responsible for crafting some of the best Stephen King adaptations in recent years.

Tom Hiddleston joins Mike Flanagan for his upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s work

With Mike Flanagan set to adapt Stephen King’s The Life of Chuck, a short story from his 2020 anthology If it Bleeds, Marvel veteran Tom Hiddleston has been attached at its forefront. The story will follow the biography of Charles Krantz, set to be played by Hiddleston, in reverse, beginning with his death at the age of 39 from a brain tumor and ending with him as a child supposedly in a haunted house. Apart from Hiddleston, Mark Hamill has also been attached to the project, who will be playing the role of Charles’ grandfather.

Although it will be the first time Hiddleston will be working under the supervision of the horror maestro, Hamill is quite familiar with Flanagan, as he is also set to star in his upcoming Netflix series. But this isn’t the only Stephen King adaptation we will be witnessing from Flanagan in the coming years, as he has been pretty vocal about his desire to craft a The Dark Tower TV show.

Mike Flanagan is okay with The Dark Tower taking a backseat

After announcing back in 2022 that he was attached with The Dark Tower and is set to revive the IP after the disaster of the 2017 movie, Mike Flanagan is okay with it not being his next project. Although he opened up about his plans of crafting 5 seasons based on King’s acclaimed work, he is ready to leave it to the industry for now. Even though he hasn’t stopped working on the project and is adamant about doing justice to the source material, he will let the industry decide about the project’s future. He said,

“I’ve become much more flexible and much more kind of open to letting the industry tell me what’s next and letting life tell me what’s next and just being ready. And if I find myself with an hour to kill, I’m going to be working on my Dark Tower script.”

Even though it appears it will be a big wait before we witness a truthful adaptation of The Dark Tower, for now, an adaptation of The Life of Chuck with Tom Hiddleston will do the job for fans.
