Talking to London Times, Simon Pegg stated that there are many perks of being friends with superstar Tom Cruise, which includes the actor taking his Mission: Impossible 7 co-stars “go-karting and zip-lining.” Pegg also recalled the time when Cruise took them all to swim with the sharks.

Cruise stars in Mission: Impossible 7 along with Pegg, Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Rebecca Ferguson, and many more. While Pegg did not mention any specific co-stars, it’s safe to assume that Cruise would’ve wanted the entire MI7 family to partake in the little adventure.

Pegg continued,

“I mean, I always make fun of him for it [his level of fame], you know, about the things that he can access. We were filming in South Africa recently on this mountain and then he decided he wanted to swim with sharks. He flew us in a helicopter to this seaside part and we dived with sharks. At the end of the day, we said, ‘That was a real Tom Cruise kind of day.’ He kind of appreciates the ridiculousness of it sometimes.”

The Shaun of the Dead actor also talked about the experience with PEOPLE where he stated that this was Cruise’s way of showing “appreciation for his crew.” Adding that the superstar took them to feed the sharks, Pegg recalled,

“We were filming somewhere near some coastal waters where there were sharks and we had the afternoon off and we all jumped. We’ve been filming in a helicopter and he flew us in the helicopter to this place where you could go into a cage and feed sharks.”

Well, there you have it. If you want to be friends with the Top Gun: Maverick actor, you must be ready for such thrilling adventures at all times. Do you have what it takes?

“I love working with Tom because he is such a professional and applies himself with such incredible commitment that it’s hard not to try and keep up with that.”

On becoming friends, Pegg stated,

“Tom is such an extraordinary person. It is very interesting to get a glimpse of someone about whom there is so much speculation, gossip, and talk. It is nice to actually see with a little more clarity about who that person actually is.”
