It seems like Todd Howard doesn’t suffer fools gladly. And with Starfield riding high in terms of sales and concurrent player numbers, why should he? But in a recent interview with Bloomberg Technology, there was an audience question posed to Howard which many who have just laughed away but thankfully the man himself just took it in his stride, remained calm and composed and knocked it out the park.

What did Todd Howard say in the interview?
The question posed to Todd Howard from the Bloomberg Technology audience was ‘why did you not optimise this game for PC?’ and without breaking stride, Howard responded with the following;
“We did. It’s running great. It is a next-gen PC game. We really do push the technologies, so you may need to upgrade your PC for this game. But it’s got a lot of great stuff going on in it and the fans are responding awesome.”
Alongside Howard in the interview was Xbox head Phil Spencer who could be seen laughing out loud when this question was asked. And some Starfield fans couldn’t believe the line of questioning that was being asked;
“2 big players in the gaming industry in your interview and that is the audience question he uses” – @iKenny_J
“This has to be a joke right?” – @HeresHavi

It has previously been reported by AMD what CPU is required to experience to the game in Heroic, Epic and Legendary performance settings as noted below;
For Heroic – 1080p – AMD Ryzen™ 5 7600 CPU, AMD Radeon™ RX 7600 GPU
For Epic – 1440p – AMD Ryzen™ 7 7700X CPU, AMD Radeon™ RX 6800 Series GPU
For Legendary – 4K – AMD Ryzen™ 7 7800X3D CPU, AMD Radeon™ RX 7900 XT GPU
And Starfield fans took to Social Media in the wake of the Todd Howard interview to make their feelings known and it seems like their are mixed feelings when it comes to the question of optimisation for PC;
“Runs great on my PC (ryzen 9 5900x, RTX 3080) almost 30 hours in and haven’t had a single bug.” – @ASQDGaming
“You need a top end build to run Starfield on Ultra 4K Settings. Visually the game is amazing and runs smooth with my new rig that I built back in early August of this year.” – @Kypershot
“I have a 4090 and get garbage fps. PC version is hardly optimised.” – @Mikpwn
However it looks like on the Social Media debate, many are blaming the users rather than the game itself. Looks like a massive can of worms with many agreeing to disagree rather than be drawn into an argument.
