Fridging of Val in Solo: A Star Wars Story
Fridging is a term used when a woman character is killed or injured to stimulate “protective” traits in male characters and be used as a plot device to take the story further. Val was the first black woman in the Star Wars franchise, and she could’ve been a significant part of it, but she died saving her husband. This shows how less of an importance a woman carries in the franchise, especially a woman of color.

In “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, the audience saw a new crimelord by the name of Zirro The Hut. With the flamboyant voice and purple skin(purple is often associated with the LGBTQIA+ community), Zirro is a typical gay stereotype that is just ignorant of the creators.

This chain bikini of Leia had mixed reactions from the viewers because it’s still a very popular cosplay. But, in the movie, the use of the chain bikini costume is downright disturbing given how Leia had to wear it forcefully on Jabba the Hutt’s order. In addition, the outfit looked uncomfortable and a little out-of-place for the only strong female character to wear in the 80s.

When Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon find young Skywalker in Tatooine, his family is a slave. Slavery didn’t just exist, but it was also popular on the planet, and nobody raised a voice, not even the outsiders.
Poe Dameron’s backstory
Before introducing his unnecessary backstory, people already loved Poe’s strong-willed and cocky character. It showed him as a drug dealer turned Resistance pilot just to stick it to the First Order. The only Latina character was a drug dealer, which is quite typical of the mainstream media’s view of the community.

Padme had complications delivering the baby at first. Still, after getting literally choked by his husband on the planet Mustafar, a medical droid came to deliver the message that they could save the babies, but Padme was dying of other unexplained reasons. She was literally killed off because of a “broken heart”. She had no apparent diseases or illnesses. They just killed the most prominent female character to initiate the rise of Anakin as Darth Vader. Another example of fridging.
Excited Wookie
The in-your-face sequence of Chewbacca’s grandfather, Itchy, enjoying virtual seduction was a bit too much considering how visibly excited Itchy was. As the scene progresses, the sexual undertones became more apparent by the minute.
Luke-Leia Kiss
This kiss is far too comfortable to see, especially after completing the original trilogy. To give context, Luke and Leia, who are estranged siblings separated at birth, share a smooch. George Lucas had no ideas back then to make Leia Luke’s sister as he was thinking of adding a new character. Still, Leia visibly liked Han, making the kiss even more awkward.
