The DC star Zachary Levi spoke out against the ongoing strike after Stephen Amell. The strike has led to a virtual silence in Hollywood, with numerous well-known actors including Dwayne Johnson showing their support whether by picketing or by donating to charities supporting the cause. However, it’s evident that not all of these stars wholeheartedly agree with the strike, including the ones mentioned earlier.
Recently, Levi received an invitation to participate in a fan event where he was supposed to discuss his past projects. However, due to the ongoing strike, the rules of the event prevented him from talking about the shows he had been involved in. Thus began his whining, the actor’s rant went on for a bit calling out the supposedly “dumb” rules set by the strikers.
DC Stars Zachary Levi and Stephen Amell Speak Out Against the Ongoing Strike!
The ongoing strike in Hollywood, while seemingly a widely accepted decision, has actually led to a division within the industry on whether to support it or not. Despite its widespread backing from A-list actors like Dwayne Johnson, there are still dissenting voices who are not participating in the strike and even criticizing it, alleging selfish motives behind it.
One among such stars is Zachary Levi, while attending a fan event, he couldn’t contain his emotions and inadvertently expressed his stance in front of the audience. After not being able to talk after his past projects, the very reason he was called for the Shazam! actor went on a rant stating,
“I’m not allowed to talk about… This is so dumb. I’m not allowed to talk about my previous work—I’m not allowed to talk about movies that I may be a superhero in. I’m not allowed to talk about TV shows that I may have been a nerd who worked at a Best Buy. I’m not allowed to talk about any animated Princess movies that I was fantastic in as the best Prince ever. I’m not allowed to talk about those things.”
The apparent outburst or meltdown, whatever term may be appropriate, might have appeared selfish, but Zachary Levi was not alone in expressing his frustration. Another DC star had already voiced similar complaints earlier, highlighting their concerns about the work coming to a halt due to the ongoing strike by stating,
“I can support my union, but there was an authorization vote for a reason,–And listen, it was overwhelmingly in favor of striking. It was 98% and I think that there was a lot of people who frankly it was a vote, but I think that it was just kind of the complete that we were willing to authorize that. I just think that this has been done in a very black and white, all or nothing sort of way and I’m talking about shows and movies that were about to come out before the strike.”
This above statement was made by the Arrow star, Stephen Amell. And now both the actors Amell and Levi are facing backlash for their outspoken and seemingly insensitive comments regarding the ongoing strike. But on the other hand, people are praising Dwayne Johnson for his support.
Dwayne Johnson Made a “Historic” Donation to SAG-AFTRA Admist Strike
In an awe-inspiring display of solidarity and compassion, Dwayne Johnson has made an unprecedented and remarkable financial contribution to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation Relief Fund. This fund plays a crucial role in providing emergency assistance to fellow union members amidst the ongoing strike action.
The executive director of the foundation stated,
“It’s the largest single donation that we’ve ever received from one individual at one time. And what is amazing is that that one cheque is going to help thousands of actors keep food on their table.–I want to thank Dwayne for his tremendous generosity–On behalf of the thousands who will be helped by his historic donation, thank you.”
Responding to a heartfelt letter penned by Courtney B. Vance, the president of the foundation, and reaching out to the most influential actors in the film industry, Johnson’s philanthropic spirit shone through as he generously donated a sum in the seven-figure range.
