What Do The Fans Have Against Jared Leto?

In 2017, there was talk that Disney was bringing in Jared Leto for the Tron Legacy sequel. Though at that time nothing was confirmed as they were in search of a director, news has recently been updated that Tron 3 will star Leto as its main character. Many are biased from his role as Joker in Suicide Squad and of course, Sony’s Morbius, where his performance was not as good as people expected it to be, and are naming him to be an overrated actor.

Jared Leto’s Morbius received critical negative reviews and fans were utterly disappointed by his performance in the movie. It was rated as one of the worst MCU movies out there, only second to 2015’s Fantastic Four. Though it was rated C+, it was a bit better than Fantastic Four’s C-. Morbius was criticized before its release and even after, it did not get that many positive reviews and comments.

According to many film critics, Jared Leto’s Joker in Suicide Squad was his worst role as a villain. He was constantly being compared to Heath Ledger’s performance from The Dark Knight, and even named him “Ledger-lite”. Reviewers and DC fans also did not like his take on the character and how his performance was covered with on-set antics and media shoots. Moreover, Joker was meant to be an embodiment of terror, whereas his role was just costume and makeup.

Will Tron Ares Be Another Failure

The first Tron movie was released way back in 1982 and the sequel was released much later in 2010. The movie Tron at that time could only gather moderate success though it remained one of the favorites throughout the years. When they finally released Tron: Legacy in 2010, there were many expectations from the movie but it ultimately flopped. The movie had a production cost of $170 million, and it gathered about a total of over $400 million from the box office worldwide.

In an attempt to make the movie different from Star Wars movies that boomed some years ago, the plot was really bland and had no punch in it. It portrayed a classical hero saving the day by completing some tasks that he was given. Though its visuals were top-notch for that period, the plot of the movie and the script for the actors really let the movie down.

Now it is also rumored that the third Tron movie would also flop due to the casting of Jared Leto as its main character due to his history of bad performance.

Tron: Ares is rumored to be released on December 19, 2025.
