“This is going to feature other members of the family”: Peter Safran Hints Robert Pattinson’s Batman Might Be Short-Lived After Revealing DCU Dark Knight’s Major Plans

It’s evident that one of the more successful major DC releases in recent years has come not from the famed DC Universe, but from a movie trying to stray away from the DCU name. Matt Reeves’s The Batman is what we’re talking about, and it’s done its job way better than what the latest DCU release, Black Adam, was set out to do.

While Black Adam was released to a crowd of excited DC fans in October, plans were being set in place for the arrival of James Gunn and Peter Safran as the new co-heads of DC Studios. Yes, they have a plan, especially for Batman’s character (and universe), but will it hinder the progress that Matt Reeves is trying to make?

The New DCU Batman Movie Will Feature Some Familiar Faces

While fans are still taking in the work that Matt Reeves put into making The Batman, plans are already underway from DC Studios’ co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran in their quest to save the DCU from its current slump.

As Empire reports, Safran and Gunn revealed the announcement of a new DCU movie based on Batman’s character named Batman: The Brave And The Bold. As quoted, Gunn has this to say about the new project-

“This is a story of Damian Wayne, who’s Batman’s actual son that he didn’t know existed for the first eight to ten years of his life. He was raised as a little murderer and assassin.”

“He’s my favorite Robin. We’re putting it all together right now.”

Safran built upon that statement and revealed to fans that they’re going to see characters that have not been given the big-screen treatment at all-

“This is going to feature other members of the extended Bat-Family. Just because we feel like they’ve been left out of the Batman stories in the cinema for far too long.”

This would probably clash with the vision that Matt Reeves has set out for his version of the character, as he wants to bring in more familiar faces. But such a move from the literal co-heads of DC Studios could mean that Robert Pattinson’s time as Bruce Wayne might be seeing an end – is it too soon?

Of all the iterations fans have gotten of the popular DC character, Christopher Nolan’s version of The Dark Knight has been the most well-received and acclaimed to this day. There was possibly no one who could’ve done it better than Nolan, not to mention the fact that Christian Bale nailed his role as Bruce Wayne in the trilogy that the former made.

But it’s Matt Reeves’ The Batman starring Robert Pattinson, that has given some tough competition to Nolan’s masterpiece. However, recent plans from the new DC Studios co-heads to make a new DCU version of Batman have come up – does this mean we’ll be seeing the end of Pattinson and co.?

James Gunn assures fans that it’s nothing like that. According to an announcement reported by Empire, Gunn assured that the new Batman: The Brave And The Bold will be made alongside Reeves’ version-

“We’re working with Robert on The Batman – Part II with Matt Reeves.”

It’s an exciting time for fans of the popular DC character. Reeves has already given them a taste of what a well-adapted Bruce Wayne would be like, only making fans wonder what Gunn and Safran are gonna come up with.

The Batman is currently available for streaming on Hulu.
