Starfield is a video game developed by the storied Bethesda Game Studios and directed by Todd Howard, a combination that has resulted in several hit games in the past, such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4. It is an open-world role-playing game (RPG) that is set in outer space and has the usual Bethesda staples such as deep character customization, hidden areas to find, factions to join or oppose, secrets to uncover, and much more.

On the whole, reviews for Starfield from critics have ranged from average to very positive, and that seems to be the case with players as well. Despite the game releasing on September 6th, some players have early access to the game having purchased the Premium or Constellation Editions. While many of these players have praised the game for various reasons, others haven’t and one streamer in particular, FornaTRON, has come down hard on it.
What did streamer FornaTRON say about Starfield?
Streamer FornaTRON was not impressed with Starfield, which is putting it lightly. He compared the game to Cyberpunk 2077, which had a notoriously difficult launch in late 2020. He also addressed the fact that many players and even a Bethesda executive made, which is that the game only opens up after players have put in many, many hours. He said:
“The core gameplay mechanics don’t change. Like, you’re still fighting the same types of enemies, the same color coded, like, soldiers and then a few robots here and there, and maybe some shitty bugs. The planets are bullsh*t. What’s the point? Yeah, you can grind materials and grind like f*cking little shit and sell it all. And then what? You build a better ship to fly to other mundane planets. Or to build, like, a sh*tty habitat or to follow some stupid quest line.”

He then took aim at the developer, Bethesda, and all the people involved in creating the game, saying:
“This game was bad, dude. This game was not that great. And I’m not just saying that as like I’m not trying to stir any console wars, but honestly, as someone who’s never played a Bethesda game, this is very like, how long was this game in development for? It’s been a long time. I feel like it was, like eight years or something. You need to fire almost every person that you have at Bethesda Studios. Anyone who is in charge of the controls and how the controls work, fired. Whoever wrote this story fired. Like, this story was such a dog shit bullsh*t.”
FornaTRON concluded his video by saying he could not understand those people who really got into role-playing video games.
How has Starfield’s launch been so far?
Starfield is already being played in early access, as mentioned above, and a lot of these players have taken to streaming the game on Twitch. On the popular platform, it quickly became one of the most viewed titles there at 500000 viewers at its peak. That is a sign of high interest from the gaming community, despite the game not being available on the PlayStation 5, instead being exclusive to Xbox consoles and PC.
Ultimately, whether people enjoy Starfield or not comes down to the expectations they had going into the game, as well as their own preferences, both of which are highly subjective things. Some people will love it, others will hate it and many will fall somewhere in between the two.
