Disney is Allegedly Planning to Delay Deadpool 3’s Release

Marvel Studios announced its upcoming projects for Phase 5 and Phase 6 of the MCU at the 2022 DC23 Expo. The slate included some major projects Marvel fans have been waiting to see in the MCU for a while, including Blade and the Fantastic Four.

However, after the big reveal, there has been no significant update regarding these projects. And the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike made it more challenging for the studio to continue production. Deadpool 3 has recently become one of the major projects to bear the effects of the strike, with production reportedly halted and allegedly affecting its release schedule as well.

The Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman starrer, which has been slated to release in May 2024, is believed to have seen a delay in its theatrical release. Disney recently released a list of its upcoming theatrical releases, listing Disney movies set to release from September 2023 to June 2024.

While Shawn Levy’s Deadpool threequel has been slated to release in May 2024, it is nowhere to be seen on the list, which suggests that the studio has delayed its theatrical release till June 2024. However, the studio hasn’t said anything about the schedule change so far.

Fans Disappointed With the Possible Deadpool 3 Delay

Marvel Studios has announced the schedule changes in the upcoming movies, including that Fantastic Four, Deadpool 3, Blade, and Avengers: Secret Wars. The Deadpool threequel was initially pushed back from September 2024 to November 2024.

However, with a handful of release date changes, it also became the only movie to be moved up six months ahead of its release date and was slated to release in May 2024. While fans were excited that they might get to see the iconic duo of Deadpool and Wolverine sooner than they expected, the new update has only added to their disappointment.

Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts, saying that the multiple delays could have a bad impact on the movie. Many also stated that the reason behind the delay could possibly be the SAG-AFTRA strike, and it could be sorted only if the “studios weren’t greedy” and the studios started “paying [their] writers and actors.” Others also said that Disney should not have moved up its release date in the first place.

As of now Deadpool 3 is expected to release in May 2024.
