The question of whether extraterrestrial life exists beyond our planet has been a topic of fascination, speculation, and scientific inquiry for centuries. The possibility of life on other celestial bodies has captured the imaginations of scientists, astronomers, and the general public alike.
While some firmly believe in the existence of aliens, others remain skeptical, leading to a heated and ongoing debate. And, some Hollywood celebrities also spoke their mind on this topic. If some wrote songs about aliens, others said they made ‘eye contact‘ with aliens.
Jaden Smith Asked Ex-POTUS Barack Obama if Aliens Exist
Son of megastar Will Smith told Britain’s Wonderland magazine that he thinks “aliens are really cool, because they exist.”
When Jaden Smith, his mother, and sister Willow visited the White House Situation Room, President Barack Obama also reportedly admitted as much.
“I talked to President Obama about extraterrestrials. He said he could neither confirm nor deny the existence of aliens, which means they’re real. If people think we’re the only people that live in this universe, then something is wrong with them.”
So, the then 13-year-old Jaden Smith took the opportunity to ask something so controversial to the President himself disregarding his dad’s instructions.
What Will Smith Said about that Incident?
In an interview with BBC Radio, Jaden Smith’s father Will Smith spoke about how his son was discussing with him his desire to ask such a question to Mr. Obama when they visit the White House.
The Men in Black star explained,
“The night before, Jaden had said to me, ‘Dad, I gotta ask the president about the aliens,’ and I was like, ‘Dude, no, no, it’s not cool. No, it’s not cool, it’s embarrassing. … Do not ask the president!’”
“So we get into the Situation Room and Jaden gets the look in his eyes and he leans over and he says, ‘Dad, what’s my punishment?’” Smith said. “… And Barack is starting to talk about this Situation Room and Jaden says, ‘Excuse me, Mr. President? And Barack said, ‘Don’t tell me.’ And in perfect form—like, this is why he’s the President—he stopped and looked at Jaden and said, ‘The aliens, right?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, shoot!’ And he said, ‘Okay, I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of extraterrestrials but I can tell you if there had been a top secret meeting and if there would have had to have been a discussion about it, it would have taken place in this room.'”
The question of whether aliens exist is one that continues to captivate humanity. And it is likely that future scientific breakthroughs and technological advancements will continue to shape our understanding of the universe and our place within it. Until then, the question of whether aliens exist remains one of the most intriguing and enduring mysteries of our time. And that’s what Jaden Smith was enthusiastic about, so much so that he could not resist from asking the question to the commander-in-chief.
