Brad Pitt’s Abusive Role In The Tree of Life Traumatized His Kids In The Movie
Brad Pitt is renowned for his nice and kind behavior toward his co-stars during every single one of his works. But his conduct while shooting his $58.4 million movie, The Tree of Life put him in a pretty tough and intimidating position in front of his young co-actors.
In the movie, he had to portray a mean and abusive character toward his three children, which proved to be quite hard for him. Sharing how his role’s personality was similar to that of his father’s, Pitt’s makeup artist Jean Black said,
“Brad’s dad is definitely the powerhouse in that family. Jane’s this wonderful spirit and Bill is a man of few words, but when he talks you’re like, Uh huh. Conscious or not, Brad’s performance in Tree of Life was the reincarnation of his dad in that way.”
He continued to reveal how it was extremely tough for the Troy star to behave in such a way that was unlike him toward his young co-stars and how he had to comfort them in between takes.
“It was really difficult for him because he had to be very tough with those children. They weren’t actors. They’d never done anything like that, and so much of the movie was unscripted. Brad had to be mean to them, and that’s not the way he is with children. He made a point of doing things in between scenes to show how he felt about them. But they were terrified of him.”
Nonetheless, Brad Pitt’s hard work and utter dedication as well as his young co-actors endurance certainly paid off, for the movie went on to be widely critically acclaimed by audiences worldwide.
