Actors speaking up against award ceremonies isn’t a new thing. Many often choose to point out the pointlessness and baselessness of awards and award ceremonies in the film industry. While it is an avid interest of fans to keep track of how many wins their favorite celebrities have, most celebrities don’t even care. And today we have none other than the Gone Girl star, Rosamund Pike speaking up about her true feelings about the Oscars.

While it is true that most celebrities either get canceled or brushed aside, Pike isn’t afraid to express her true feeling about the awards, even though she fears she might get in trouble.

Awards are the most celebrated highlight of an artist’s career. They represent the dedication, time, and effort they put into their craft, while also rewarding them for their creative service. While most would be honored and overjoyed to receive an award, Rosamund Pike isn’t a big fan. Even Oscars weren’t spared from Pike’s disdain as she was once quoted saying,

“I can’t watch the Oscars, everybody thanking their mother, their father, their grandparents, their nurse – it’s crazy, horrible.”

Most would here point out that the Rich Flu actress sounds like a hypocrite as she felt flattered when she was nominated for an Oscar. However, Pike asserts that even though she may feel stunned then, seeing the audience appreciate her craft and creation is the only true reward.

Rosamund Pike Feels Awards Ceremonies Are Low Point

Indeed, award ceremonies are not a cup of tea for many. Not all can be bothered to sit through these tiring events while enjoying a scripted show. Rosamund Pike, who once almost made a blunder at BAFTA Awards 2011, feels it is the formal format of award ceremonies that need to change.

“I find award ceremonies so often the low point. These are all the things I probably shouldn’t say – but I find them the low point of the cinematic calendar because you’re celebrating all these fantastic performances and you have people delivering trite lines in a sort of terribly pretentious manner on stage and sometimes you think, there has got to be a new format for these things.”

Well, Pike isn’t the only one who finds it hard to sit through these oomph and pomp events. Others have also come forward at different points in time to express their dislike of these highly venerated events.
