Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 was a movie Tom Cruise expected to surpass the success of Barbie and Oppenheimer. Although that was not the case, the movie had a lot of work put into it and the ensemble cast was also rather impressive. It is not, as usual, to see familiar faces returning to the franchise if they are not part of Ethan Hunt’s core team.
Christopher McQuarrie is already working extremely hard on the sequel to his film and it is said to be much bigger and better than what fans got to experience with his latest movie. While many actors wish to return to the franchise at least once more, not many get the opportunity to do so. However, one actor might just.
Mission Impossible Might Bring Back Angela Bassett
Although the Marvel Cinematic Universe has not been up to the mark as of late, one actress that shined brighter than anyone was Angela Bassett. The actress first appeared in the Mission Impossible franchise as Erika Sloan. Mission: Impossible – Fallout saw her going head-to-head against Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt. As a CIA director, she had a lot of impact on the movie and fans appreciated her presence just as much.
“We’re not done with Angela Bassett,” McQuarrie added. “Angela is too fabulous, you could never ever let Angela get away, so there’s always a plan in the future…”
Her fanbase also happens to include Christopher McQuarrie as well. He knows her potential and is more than excited to find at least one possible way to bring her back into the franchise with Dead Reckoning Part 2. The director is looking forward to having her back and has also hinted for the fans to be prepared for her to have a more significant role in the future.
Angela Bassett Was Supposed To Be In Mission: Impossible 7
In 2020, Angela Bassett confirmed her return to the Mission: Impossible franchise and was looking forward to becoming Erika Sloane once again. Everyone was anticipating her return, fans and co-stars alike and she already had a script as well as a scene ready for her to be filmed. However, things did not go her way.
“But I do have the pages, we’ll just see when I get the ticket to fly and go do my part, but that’s coming up and I’m really excited about it.”
Due to COVID restrictions, the actress could not fly out and was therefore cut out of the movie altogether. However, this did motivate Christopher McQuarrie to include her in his next film. Not only were the fans saddened by the change, but so was Bassett.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 is now available to watch in theatres.
