Ben Affleck's Arguably Best Movie Happened Because Of Jennifer Lopez's Infamous Versace Dress That Grossed $369M At The Box-Office

When it comes to Hollywood, or the film industry in general, while awards may not mean everything to some, it certainly helps a star to know their work has been recognized and that they have achieved greatness. Even if that wasn’t the case with Ben Affleck, who is a two-time Academy Award Winner, his works have been loved by critics and the audience alike for many years now.

All thanks to his talent to perform in front of the camera as though he may be living the moment in reality is what has made him such a reputable star in the business. But interestingly, one of his most acknowledged and revered performances in one of his projects may have been offered to him due to his now-wife Jennifer Lopez’s Versace Dress she wore in the 2000s rather than his acting prowess.

Not through sheer luck, but through unrelenting hustle and determination to make it big in the Hollywood industry, Ben Affleck has now become one of the biggest names in the business through his grind and talent, which surpasses just the realm of acting alone. Therefore, possessing such raw talent as both an actor and a filmmaker, it will be shocking to hear that the reason why he was the first and priority choice for one of his biggest films, that is, 2014’s Gone Girl was because of his wife Jennifer Lopez and her wardrobe.

In a past interview, David Fincher, the director of the aforementioned film, talked about how he wanted a male lead who possessed a nervous smile that looked like he was hiding something, and after surfing through Google Images, his eyes were stuck on the Justice League star and his uncanny smile, which made him the top candidate for the role.

Arguably, the credit for him getting the film can be given to his wife as well since the infamous green dress she wore on the night of the Grammy Awards in 2000 was searched so much after the event that Google had to create a new search engine for images specifically, which is known as Google Images today. Fincher told Playboy, via Vanity Fair about this, saying:

“You cast movies based on critical scenes. In Gone Girl there’s a smile the guy has to give when the local press asks him to stand next to a poster of his missing wife. I flipped through Google Images and found about 50 shots of Affleck giving that kind of smile in public situations. You look at them and know he’s trying to make people comfortable in the moment, but by doing that he’s making himself vulnerable to people having other perceptions about him.”

Who knew that Affleck’s future wife would play a huge role in getting him a film that became one of the biggest highlights of his career.
