“There were a lot of people that enjoyed it”: Baldur’s Gate 3 Had a Bizarre Bug That Made Characters Extremely Horny Before Larian CEO Struck it Down

Baldur’s Gate 3 Had a Bizarre Bug That Made Characters Extremely Horny Before Larian CEO Struck it Down

Larian Studios’ Baldur’s Gate 3 came out on the 3rd of August and upon release, immediately gained places on Steam in terms of sales until Starfield pre-orders started. As seen on the popular review-aggregate site Metacritic, Baldur’s Gate 3 has already received the highest combined score of most recent games. While several players faced a buggy final act in the game, a bizarre new bug in the game has got the gaming community quite amused.

CEO of Larian Studios, Swen Vincke was quick to clarify that the weird bug was enjoyed by a majority of gamers, even if it was unintentional. This also led to gamers not complaining as much as they would about a bug in a major game, which hasn’t stopped the studio from sending out patches to all in-game characters with more on the way.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Touted As Highest-Rated PS5 Game According To Metacritic

At the moment, Baldur’s Gate 3 is sitting pretty at the top of Metacritic charts in terms of User Score, closely followed by The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Metacritic and OpenCritic usually aggregate reviews to come up with their scores. Once they collect all the scores from gaming publications, they finally compile them to create an aggregated score. The process followed by Metacritic isn’t as transparent as OpenCritic’s process of rating games, however, this shouldn’t take away the fact that the majority of critics have positively reviewed Baldur’s Gate 3 for PS5.

The game itself, however, has been doing the rounds for a completely different reason at the moment. There’s a bizarre bug in the game that’s making characters in the game super horny, but this specific bug hasn’t faced any backlash from gamers, who have been enjoying it so far.

Larian Studios CEO Clarifies About Bizarre Bug, Reveals More Patches On The Way

Gale is said to be one of the characters most affected by the Baldur’s Gate 3 ‘bug’

Speaking to TheGamer, Larian Studios CEO confirmed that romances in Baldur’s Gate 3 were bugged at launch. He confirmed that characters in the game were found to be flinging themselves at gamers way too quickly. The in-game characters were not supposed to behave the way they did at launch, particularly everyone’s favorite wizard in the game, Gale. Clarifying the reason behind the bizarre bug, Vincke clarified that the approval thresholds in the game’s romance system were set far too low than intended for some characters, leading to them behaving the way they did.

Discussing the state of romances in Baldur’s Gate 3 at launch, Vincke went on to say, “We’ve fixed it since, at least for some of them. We’re still fixing a few of them.” Vincke didn’t completely clarify the characters who were yet to be patched, as it could still take some time for the bug to be completely eradicated.

Fans, on the other hand, Vincke confirmed as saying made the best of the situation, as he was quoted as saying, “There were a lot of people that enjoyed it. But it was too fast,” Vincke further commented, “It was supposed to simulate how real relationships are.”
