Disney has made a lot of live-action movies of their animated classics in recent years and not all of them were accepted by fans. Classics like Aladdin, Peter Pan, The Lion King, and even The Little Mermaid have been made into live-action movies recently. However, the fans were unhappy seeing their favorite classics getting butchered like that. The Little Mermaid was released recently and has been a success at the box office. However, fans were not very impressed to see Halle Bailey play the role of Ariel in the movie. Ever since the announcement, there was unrest among fans regarding the ethnicity of the American actress.
After the success of The Little Mermaid, Disney is reportedly ready to come out with another surprise, the studio will allegedly be making a live-action remake of Bambi this time.
Halle Bailey talked about the importance of representation in movies
Casting Halle Bailey as Ariel left the fans divided on whether a ‘black mermaid‘ is a good decision or not. #NotMyAriel also went viral on Twitter and multiple other social media platforms because people were mad about the casting of Bailey as Ariel.
Bailey recently opened up and talked about how her life would have been a whole lot different if she had seen a ‘Black mermaid‘ as a child. She said, “If I would have had a black mermaid, that would have been insane, that would have changed my whole perspective, my whole life, my confidence, my self-worth.”
The American actress further added, “Some people are just like, oh, it’s whatever because they’ve had it their whole life. It’s nothing to them. But it’s so important.”
According to sources, The Little Mermaid has allegedly made more than $418 million at the box office so far.
Fans react to Disney allegedly planning a live-action remake of Bambi
Disney is allegedly looking for a director who can help the studio make a live-action remake of the animated classic, Bambi. According to sources, Disney is allegedly looking at the Academy Award winner director, Sarah Polley. However, fans are just done with watching their favorite classics get ruined by Disney and they took to Twitter to voice their displeasure against making a live-action remake of Bambi.
Fans are still confused about who wants to watch these live actions. One fan wrote, “Who wants this?”
Another fan voiced his displeasure and said, “There is zero need for this.”
Some fans decided to troll Disney for making a live-action remake of Bambi.
One fan even explained how the plot of the live-action movie might be slightly different than the classic animated movie.
It is quite understandable why Disney wants to make more live-action movies even though the fans hate them as The Little Mermaid has been a global success at the box office. According to sources, the movie has grossed over $418 million against a budget of only $250 million so far.
The Little Mermaid is currently playing in theatres.
