Lauren Hissrich, the showrunner of The Witcher series is all set to expand on The Witcher verse by bringing in its prequel The Witcher: Blood Origin. The creator and Declan de Barra sat down for an interview to talk about the upcoming prequel.
During the interview, the talk of season 4 of The Witcher came into picture and Lauren Hissrich had to respond to Henry Cavill’s controversial exit from the show.
Lauren Hissrich Promises Season 4 Will Be Fantastic
With the release of The Witcher: Blood Origin on the looming horizon, the showrunners of the show are much excited to expand on The Witcher verse. Henry Cavill portrayed the role of Geralt of Rivia in the first 2 (and the upcoming 3rd) seasons of The Witcher. The actor recently left the franchise which created controversies and rumors of troubles between him and showrunner Lauren Hissrich.
In an interview with Collider, the duo of Lauren Hissrich and Declan de Barra were asked various questions about their upcoming projects. The talk of Henry Cavill was inevitable as Lauren Hissrich had to answer the question regarding the actor’s controversial decision to call it quits.
When asked about the schedule differences between the newly appointed Geralt of Rivia, Liam Hemsworth, and the retired Henry Cavill, Hissrich claimed that it is “up to the powers that be” and claimed that she is excited for season 4.
“Yeah. But that is so far away for us right now, and that’s going to be up to the powers that be. Honestly, I’m really excited for Witcher Season 4. I think it’s going to be fantastic. I can’t wait to get started. We’re not there. So right now, I just really want to keep the focus on Blood Origin and all of this amazing work.”
Following the reveal that Henry Cavill would be leaving The Witcher franchise, millions of people felt heartbroken. Liam Hemsworth also received some online hatred for being the replacement of the Man of Steel actor.
Henry Cavill and Lauren Hissrich’s Fallout
Henry Cavill is an actor who is adored by millions of fans out there. The actor received much love and praise for his role as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher franchise. After portraying the role for 3 seasons, Cavill decided to call it quits and announce his departure from the franchise. It was earlier rumored that due to his involvement in the newly made DCU, the actor simply didn’t have enough time, but things weren’t so simple between Cavill and Lauren Hissrich.
Citing the reason as creative difference between Hissrich and Cavill, the rumor went up that Lauren Hissrich didn’t like The Witcher books and wanted to deviate from the original story. Henry Cavill, on the other hand, loved The Witcher books and wanted to stay true to the lore of the Witcher verse. Although it wasn’t confirmed or denied, Cavill will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth in the 4th season of Netflix’s The Witcher.
The Witcher: Blood Origin will exclusively release on Netflix on 25th December this year.
