Well, several fans are alleging that there is a company that directly pays money to critics to manage the Rotten Tomatoes score. With Ezra Miller’s The Flash receiving terrible reviews, there seems to be some form of manipulation as the Rotten Tomatoes score for the 2023 movie doesn’t seem right!
Ezra Miller’s The Flash Gets Accused of Paying Critics
It doesn’t seem a surprising rumor that the famous critic-review site Rotten Tomatoes has been allegedly working under the manipulation of a PR firm. Well, that is exactly what Twitter is alleging against the website as discrepancies in the rating of several movies have been found.
Amongst those movies, one of the iconic ones is Ezra Miller’s The Flash. With immense negative and positive reviews in the mix, the movie became one of those average-reviewed movies of the DCU. With a vast difference between critics’ scores and audience’s scores, fans are led to believe that Rotten Tomatoes has been hiding something from them.
And with this tweet, people started talking about how the movie didn’t deserve a rating and how the ‘math wasn’t mathing’.
Not only the fans but several directors have also spoken up against the practice of critics judging a movie unfairly. In an interview, Paul Schrader and notable director Quentin Tarantino talked about their takes on Hollywood critics.
Quentin Tarantino Doesn’t Read Critics’ Work
Ironically, the notable director is working on his tenth movie which is titled The Movie Critic. In an interview, the notable director talked about how film critics simply don’t care about how the movies are made or how much their reviews affect movies.
“Today, I don’t know anyone. I’m told, ‘Manohla Dargis, she’s excellent.’ But when I ask what are the three movies she loved and the three she hated in the last few years, no one can answer me. Because they don’t care!”
Paul Schrader, the American screenwriter and film director also talked about how audiences have become dumber.
“The studios didn’t invent Rotten Tomatoes, and most of them don’t like it. But the system is broken. Audiences are dumber. Normal people don’t go through reviews like they used to. Rotten Tomatoes is something the studios can game. So they do.”
The 2023 Ezra Miller movie received a rating of 6.8/10 on IMDB and a critic score of 63% on Rotten Tomatoes. The Flash is currently available to stream on Max in the U.S.
