Michael Bay rejected Steven Spielberg’s advice about the Transformers
Michael Bay has been attached to the Transformers series from the start. He was the director and producer of the top-selling franchise. However, the fourth and fifth movies received mixed reviews from audiences, and ratings were also average. The sequels were not received well, but the director had high hopes for the series.
The average ratings did not deter the filmmaker from making more sequels. However, director Steven Speilberg advised him to step away from the franchise after the third film. But Bay chose to ignore it due to his love for the series.
Bay said per Unilad,
“I made too many of them. Steven Spielberg said, ‘Just stop at three.’ And I said I’d stop,”. The studio begged me to do a fourth, and then that made a billion too. And then I said I’m gonna stop here. And they begged me again.”
“I should have stopped. They were fun to do.”
Even after the commercial disappointment of the later sequels in the franchise, he did not want to turn down the opportunity to go back on the sets and make more sequels.
